Thats the great thing about the film industry... if you missed the classic film that was made before you were born.. just wait a couple years and Hollywood will churn you out a brand new fresh copy made just for your generation and trimmed with all the bells and whistles of the current state of the art technology!
Now, some of the 100 movies you need to see before you die, are definitely phenominal achievements, But alot of them I could live without seeing simply because its been done again already, and that is also why I cant watch a film based on a true story, or a well known story. I already know the story... so I would just be watching it for all the graphical fluff.
My perfect example is the spiderman films, specifically the first one. Growing up on 1990s fox cartoons, I had the "origin" story of spiderman so ingrained in my cranium, that I couldnt be troubled to watch it again with Sea Biscuit.
Honestly... Im not a fan of old movies. It takes a massively important reason for me to sit through anything filmed before 1980s and 1990s. Not as representative of my own life span, but more to the effect the further back you go into movie history the more a film is dated.
Not to say there arent great movies before that time, But the precursor to Digital filming, Analog film rarely ages well and looks especially blurry and faded to me. Which is counteractive to my personal immersion in the plot. Its kinda like a nagging pop up add that you cant get to go away, and because it is there I get fixated on it, instead of what I should be.
