I've pretty much become a full blown nerd now

I have short hair, a thriving social life and good vision despite staring at screens most of my time spent awake. Yet I can speak haxx0r, I know what race is good for what class in WoW, and am currently single. I like to think I'm not alone, and that many of us Escapists are a powerful hybrid breed.

Yeah I know what you mean, I've always wondered what I could categorize myself.

I have perfect vision, like sports, listen to electronic music, have a girlfriend, go to parties/bars/clubs, can actually go and talk to girls at parties/bars/clubs, dress and groom well, all my friends are "cool" people to the point most haven't touched a console since they were 10.

Yet I also play M:TG, once played WH40K table top years ago, watch anime, enjoy going to train exhibtions with my dad, a gamer, a PC GAMER!, played an MMO for 3 years, like Weezer and listen to indy/metal, love sci-fi, read philosophy, spend too much time on the internet and nearly know all geek/nerd cultural references.

And I wouldn't trade it for the world ;D

I wear glasses, listen to Japanese Rock/metal, Weezer, and Nightwish. I play Dungeons and Dragons v1.0, v3.5, as well as the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. I currently am working on a Link (of LoZ fame) costume to cosplay in for the Penny Arcade Expo in August. I write fiction stories, swords and sorcery mostly.

I've played D&D religiously for the better part of four years, collected only the rarest of Yu-Gi-Oh / Pokémon / MtG cards just for the bragging rights, got a job to fund my WarHammer 40K miniature collection and my library of manga that now spans almost 800 books, own every video gaming system since the ColecoVision, create cosplay costumes for / run security detail at my city's yearly anime convention, I'm going to college to become a programmer-slash-software designer... and I still find time to slowly work on a trilogy of fantasy novels I'm currently writing when I'm not creating fanfics and other original erotic stories.

As for competition I'm a Stargate fan, I correct people when they talk about lord of the rings and I write about how much of a nerd I am on internet forums (this is most certainly not the first or last time I will as well).

I'm the exact same way, except I'm a Firefly/Serinity fan and I correct people on Star Wars and Star Trek (although I do sometimes correct people on LOTR. Not often though)

I wear glasses, but not just any glasses. They're thick, plastic rim nerdlinger glasses. I love 'em.

90% of my iTunes music library is video game music, either original or remixed.

I skipped my senior prom to stay at home and engage in a Star Trek roleplay with my circle of friends. (And no, we don't LARP, but if we could get our hands on a decent replica of the bridge of the USS Enterprise, we probably would.)

I enjoy the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy immensely (To this day, I watch it annually).

I own pretty much every version of Final Fantasy IV ever released in the United States; II on the SNES, IV in Final Fantasy Chronicles, IV on the GBA and IV on the DS. I have over 60 hours logged on each.

It's so hard for people like us. I had to explain who Sauron was to people who had only read LotR once through and seen the films. Sigh.

Not quite as bad as when, in a general knowledge quiz, I was asked "What is the name of a well-known half-human half-vulcan?" and I was the only person in a room of about 50 people who knew. Literally shocking.

Thats just like what happened to me at dinner last Friday. I spent over 30 minutes trying to explain the difference between Sauron and Sarumon then one time when I was in 5th or 6th grade, the teacher asked what was the name of Patrick Stewarts character in Star Trek, I quickly jumped up and said Jean-Luc Picard...the kids in my class never let me live that down.
