I'm not as nerdy as I think, I managed to hold a conversation with 2 girls today by myself.

And one of them had gigantic boobs which were very distracting.

I wear glasses, listen to Weezer and play Dungeons & Dragons.
I have perfect vision, listen to the Sex Pistols, and play bass.
What am I doing on this site again?

I have short hair, a thriving social life and good vision despite staring at screens most of my time spent awake. Yet I can speak haxx0r, I know what race is good for what class in WoW, and am currently single. I like to think I'm not alone, and that many of us Escapists are a powerful hybrid breed.
research shows that playing video games improves your sight.
moreso than carrots!
Really? God I love research.
yessir. :D

uhmm. i'm a girl, firstoff.

i drive the sexiest car ever made and am a gun fanatic.

BUT! i also write fantasy, play an unhealthy amount of video games, have gone to megacon but didn't dress up, could probably quote the whole legend of the ring, and uhhh... read manga and watch anime. seen every single episode of naruto. lawlz.

so... i'm somewhere in the middle?
Troll detected. There are no girls on the internet. :p

How you look and the music you listen has nothing to do with how nerdy you are. I listen to death metal, always wear a black t-shirt and a black long sleeve but Im probably one of the nerdiest guys in my whole town. In fact most nerds I know listen to metal and most of them have long hair, some even has tattoos and/or piercings.

Bah, I'm PROUD of my intense nerdness! PROUD I tell you!

Though I'm a fairly unconventional nerd...

- I play Star Wars SAGA, Hollow Earth Expedition and Warhammer Fantasy RP instead of DnD or Whitewolf. Though I have played DnD and I've created a ton of my own settings for pretty much every game I own. I also own enough Roleplaying Books to fill an entire shelf.
- I'm more into Pulp Adventure stories than I am fantasy these days, I love stuff like Indiana Jones, Jules Verne, Flash Gordon, The Shadow, Sherlock Holmes and Doc Savage.
- I've got well over 150 videogames, mostly strange JRPG's.
- I do wear glasses, and a trilby... and I occasionally have a beard... but I was rockin this style before I'd heard of Yahtzee.
- I do cosplay... but only Steampunk and costumes appropriate to my body type, never anime characters or anything that shows off skin. I'm basically a Hobbit or an Airship Captain.
- I have a degree in Religious History, not math or comp sci.
- I love comics, but I read things like Preacher, Fables, Y The Last Man and Transmetropolitan instead of standard super hero fare.

I'm unconventional, but still intensely nerdy.

You want nerd sterotype?
Okay...

I spend more money on video games than on food.
My mother still buys my clothes, unless I come across a t-shirt with Space Invaders on it or something (<3), I still have and play with Pokémon cards, D&D is awesome (my mother used to play it as a kid without the figures ... All on paper!), I spend more time talking to people online than actually socialising with people, my DS is constantly on charge because if I'm not using it, it's probably either dead or I'm playing some other game on some other console... I watch animé, read manga, watch/look at porn aaaaand I've never gotten laid.

There's a cruel, cruel, stereotype XD

I'm with on most of the stereotypes you got going there, bar the mum buying my clothes, D&D and socialising with people (although I'm very quiet around people I don't know). Anime and manga rock and porn has been a good friend to me.

it started slowly for me, to begin with i used to find myself looking in gaming stores when i was out with my friends, harmless right? Then one day after work i walked into woolworths and saw dow on sale, i thought to myself this is innocent enough, what harm can this do? playing an rts when i hadnt since dune 2 on the amiga was nice, memories of econ mangement from settlers came rushing back to me....
one thing led to another i think online gaming was the problem once i took dow online i couldnt really stop myself, i now have a painted imperial gaurd army, i have an account on steam, impulse and xfire ive been reading codexes from games workshop as if it is all going to come in usefull.
my friends tried an intervention, they tried making me go out, and i did go out, but within half an hour i had found somone to talk to about portal and that was that.
machinima one of my new favorite things and i cant help feeling a sence of entrenchment,
i dont know how to stop and i dont know anymore if i even want to.

i think even my dog is digusted by me
