I've recently discovered the joy of being abused by elitist music fanboys!

I don't hang around or talk to anyone that elitist about their music, so no. If they did do that, I would likely walk away mid-rant without a word.

Oh, and to the OP: On Opeth, do you like their louder or softer songs more? I can only stand the latter, the former just sounds like generic metal to me. Just wondering if that's your opinion as well.

The Jews perpetrated 9/11 to steal our jobs, pants, women and to try and crucify Jesus a second time. I know because I saw it on the internet it was a video made by some guy wearing a Guy Fawkes mask who lives in his parents basement.

I told my friend, "I think you have great taste in music, it's just not to my liking," and she sort of echoed me like she was traumatized by this contradictory idea, as if music is rated on a scale of goodness rather than a spectrum.

Bah, I say, Bah! Your masked man was none other than Shigeru Miyamoto trying to hide his part by shifting suspecion to the Jews, and all the people agreeing with the video where alternative log in names for Nicolas Sarkozy, reinforcing his partner in crime, "Rajin Cajun", or should I say 'Monsieur President'?

I love agruing with 'Anti-music' fanboys.

Like people who hate Rap and Pop. I'm doing music at uni so there are a few people who are really nose up snobby.

Hard to tell where to draw the line.

I often make fun of my friend for his atrocious taste in "Alternative Rock" music. But all in good fun. I went with him to a concert for some awful little band, and he was devastated to hear that I preferred the opening band to the actual one. But I can understand why people like that music. It's just not my thing.

One of my roommates (or housemates or whatever you call them) is prone to wake me up at un-earthly hours of the morning (8am) with scream-o rock. It just sounds like noise to me.

Then there's that pop/rap/techno stuff. That is all.

I laugh that all the people I know who listen to country music (not many of them, thankfully) can not, if prompted, find any redeeming quality in the music other than "It's easy to listen to." Yeah, well, so is elevator music. That doesn't mean it's good.

Anyway, it's all pointless to argue about. Pink Floyd is clearly the greatest band anyway.

>_>

<_<

Hmm...reading this back, I realize I might BE the afore-mentioned music elitist. I think I'll go watch High Fidelity again.

I'd heard of them, but had never actually heard them. So, I just went to pandora, started an Opeth station, and they suck. Seem like they're trying too hard or something. More power to you if you really dig them, but I don't get it.

Also, they don't sound like something I'm going to grow into, either. Maybe would have liked them as an angsty teen, maybe, but I sincerely doubt it. Still like better stuff back then.

techno stuff
be more specific so I can argue with you :p
Half pop, half rap, half techno. One of the people I used to live with loved blaring that stuff at top volume all day, every day. I learned to just tune it out after awhile.

I wasn't talking about normal techno music, if that's what you were preparing to defend. I don't have anything against that, personally.

Classic

There is such an abundance of bad music, people usually just like hearing one song over and over until they can't take it anymore, then they find something new.

My theatre major friends and I like to play the movie game, where one person names an actor, the next person names a movie that the actor is in, the next person names another actor in that movie, etc.

One night we were playing this game and our host's friends (the "alternative indie" crowd) showed up. They insisted that we instead play the "band game" where one person names a band and the next person names a band with a name starting with the last letter of the previous band name, and so on. After we had finished ruining their obnoxious chains with bands like ABBA, A*Teens and S Club 7, we started playing our own variation on the game where we just make up obscure band names and you lose if you can't slip it by them without being called out.

An Opeth fan asked me what I thought of the band, I answered "they have some nice spots but the majority of their material bores me" after which I then proceeded to get a torrent of abuse from the Opeth fan, telling me that I sucked and that I was sub-human and had a bad taste in music.

Yeah.

So who else has had fun being the target of insecure displacement attacks from music fanboys?
I had an encount with a conspiracy fanboy who wouldn't accept that I found it highly unlikely 9/11 was a plot by the CIA.

If that counts.
I had a girl I was crushing on told me 9/11 was just a plot by the government and those who died were actors or some shit.

...Never spit in a chicks face before...

I show respect to people who have sophisticated taste in music, even if I consider what they like to be crap (like Björk), but I'm always ready to pick on deaf retards, who claim that some shitty pop starlet no one will remember in 5 years is the greatest artist ever.
This.
