*laughs* All I see is some whinning. It's there game and they can do what they please to it. If you don't like it don't buy it. The drastic shot to sales will make them remember this mistake for next time
Oh I'm going to do something far worse. I'm going to pirate it. That's the biggest "Fuck You" you can give to a game developer.
Welcome to the vicious circle. I mean, the best way to persuade a company that they need to pay more attention to PC gamers is to show how willing you are to take their product without paying for it.

I don't mind about it being Steam integrated, that is fine, means good anti-piracy measures and all the other perks of Steam, also means that they can charge for DLC, which isn't a problem, everyone else has to.

However taking away dedicated servers and mod support is insane, granted they need to if they are going to charge for DLC. That is the only reason they are doing this, is so they can charge for DLC.

If they give us mods, and our own servers, we can easily make the DLC they sell to us. So take those away and sell us their mods and only their mods. Fucking shite, and I hate Activision. The amount of money they make from PC DLC, is that worth the amount of sales they would get from the extended life that mods bring? Or is it a we need money NAO! situation...

I don't mind steam integration, or even lack of mods. But matchmaking with no proper servers is an instant turn-off for me, I'm not bying it now. No disrespect to console gamers, but if I wanted console online I'd buy a console instead of PC.

For console gamers who might wonder what the fuss is all about - community hosted servers have been a standard in PC online for over a decade, it would be like if your PS3 online was suddenly reverted back to PS2 era standards.

I hope they change their minds, if not there are other games around the corner, like Bad Company 2. Right now I'd rather support EA than Activision anyway.

I wasn't going to buy the PC version anyway, my computer could never run it, but as someone who does play online on the PC I realise what a dick move this is. I feel sorry for all the future PC MW2 players. I'll have to deal with it anyway, seeing as I'll play this on the PS3.

But this fits perfectly with Activision's recent "lets make this company a copy of the Devil's kingdom" policy. Frell you Bobby Kotick, slimy bastard he is.

The issue here is Bobby Kotick. Hell, he was quoted as saying he wants to take the fun out of making videogames [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94711-Bobby-Kotick-Wants-to-Take-the-Fun-Out-of-Making-Games].

I have no idea why he does his job... I'm guessing he could make more money as a lawyer... Or maybe as a dictator somewhere... The point I'm trying to make is that I have absolutely no confidence the person calling the shots around Activision has the slightest clue what "fun" means, only "profit", which is not a good thing if the company is, in a way, "selling fun".

IW has just made their Forums available to members. You cannot view it without being a member. Last night this wasn't the case, everyone could come in and see the topic about how enraged the PC gamers where.

Interesting, yes?

I'm not a member there but can still view everything still? But there have been hundreds of pages deleted during the last few hours over there!

Just found out as well. I'm glad I did, otherwise I would've bought this game... Now? No thanks.

for instance modern warfare 2 costs £35 on PC , £45 on console (and thats not an exception but the rule borderlands is £10 cheaper too).
Hmm, that must be a strictly European/British phenomenon, fairly certain all PC games and all console games are of equal price.

"Its good to see there are console players out there who get it.

For console players though who still dont understand how huge dedicated servers are, ill give a quick example if the tables were turned on you.

What if, IW decides to take away joystick support on your controllers?

Thats how massive it is to us.

Would you play the game if you couldnt aim with your stick?"
Don't think that'd be the best comparison, as the game for you guys is still technically playable, just not as good, whereas removing joystick support eliminates playability entirely. I think a better comparison would be to say if they eliminated online support for the console games. Leaves us console players in the same basic area you guys are, lack of proper multiplayer (assuming MW2 supports splitscreen).

Actually, paying the same for PC games and console games is closer to a "strictly American" phenomenon, where you guys have already been brainwashed into taking that kind of crap.

Best I know, originally console games were more expensive because you basically had to pay the console's company to get your game on it... You don't have to pay anyone on the PC... Thus ours were cheaper.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna pirate this game now.

Fucking Infinity Ward, trying to fuck over the PC market. Alot of the things they are taking away are the reasons why I prefer PC gaming. the challenge, Clan servers AND THE MODS!!! =[

*Takes MW 2 off my purchase list*
yeah well said. I'd consider piracy at this stage, if I could dl torrents at uni that is.
Just thought I'd share this with you. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ATVI

About 19 thousand people cancelled their pre-orders.

Being that I'm not able to play games online, never was capable of playing games online, and due to financial constraints, won't be able to play games online for quite some time (I'd rather save that money for more important things, like food and cleaning supplies), I'd like to say to those of you complaining about this the following:

Be happy you can play online at all.

Pardon my rather long-winded sentence structure.

Ah yes. Ah that's why I couldn't view the thread. I thought it was because I wasn't a member. My mistake.

Yeah, the mods there have been deleting all the threads lately, it's very interesting that they would delete threads of such importance. One person on the IW forums commented that all the mods that deleted the thread were "devote xbox 360 gamers". Well that would be funny if true, but I doubt it is.

Man sounds bad for the pc players but us xbox ones will be ok. Any way no matter what way the game is IW will do good for us they know this is the biggest game to come out this year and if it goes wrong it could be the end of call of duty after the last game call of duty WAW was bad the only thing I think that made that game playable was the zombies mode.
I don't see why people claim WaW was bad, its was the exact same game, just different time periods
well it is the same game but the online play is not as fast and the maps are just to open makes the game more for campers but I will say that it would of been good if there was more closed area maps.

When scrolling through this thread, all I saw was complaining, people asking questions about dedicated servers and why they're important, and then jackasses pretending that they're better than people for what they use to play games.
I'm disappointed.
Sure, it might be terrible that you can't have dedicated servers or mods, but does that mean that you have to be elitist jerks?
Apparently so.
They basically sums up this "flame skirmish". I pissed off at the PC gamers for saying there system is so much better, and at the console gamers for trying to rub this into the PC gamers face. I personally didn't like CoD 4's multiplayer. Now Cod 4.2 will just be a rent.

Anyone with working IW forum account would say what is happening in there?
I don't want to create one, yet I'm curious about the content, because it's probably the first time I see official forum close to outsiders.
