so if you didnt know, lady gaga dedicated a song to a fan who took their life because they were bullied for being gay. now politicians want to make it a criminal offense and jail those who bully

opinions? thoughts? personally, i think it should go through, but i dont think it will, people will say they have a right to beat the crap out their peers for fun or crap like that. in the disability topic, i mentioned i have borderline PTSD, its brom being bullied all the time and i do wish my tormenters could be jailed for it

They made fun of him because they are weak and insecure on the inside and use it as a ego booster, the fact that he killed himself is punishment enough for them, they will never get it off their consciouses, EVER. It is many times worse then being raped in prison as they could start enjoying it and derive pleasure from it.

I don think you should be jailed for bullying. If I make fun of you I'll be honest, deal with it. Life is cruel you will have someone make comments about you. Now lets say the bully tries fighting you, again I dont think they should be jailed. This is of course considering that its regular middle school-high school bullying. If the bullies be sever beatings, or relentless insults/ death threats. Then there has to be a major punishment, possibly jail/paying a fine. Its just most bully cases arent that bad, its what has been happening for years. But every now and then you get major bullying cases and we cant treat every case as a major one. Thats when we get over protected, and cant play damn dodge ball in school.

I don't believe they should be imprisoned, but I do believe they should get knocked down a notch or two. I personally think that they should be locked in a room with a person of whatever orientation they were picking on for three hours with a shock collar. Any form of physical or verbal abuse towards the other person would result in an increasingly painful shock. People are like animals, the only way to teach them is to physically punish them for doing wrong. You gently push a dog or cat if they're doing wrong, some parents will beat their children, (and then get accused of child abuse, but that's another story) and I say do it with these assholes!

They should most definitely get some sort of punishment for this, especially because the abusive nature of kids has gotten a lot worse with that rise of the internet.
*Crotchety old person feeling* Back in my day, bullies would just beat the piss out of you during or after school, granted the bullies in my day didn't really have a reason for it, but there ya go.

Now, any kid with a cursory knowledge of such things can create a website just advertising that some other kid should die for being whatever.

Times have changed and punishments should change with it. I'm all for throwing those punks in jail if they become malicious in their attacks and drive someone to suicide. This sort of stuff shouldn't be tolerated, not in schools or in life in general, and maybe introducing harsher punishments would teach others to smarten up.

If you get attacked as an adult, it's assault. If you get attacked as a kid, it's bullying. I think that this sounds fine. By which I of course mean the new laws or stricter, or whatever. I was bullied a lot as a kid, and I didn't go all Lemming and kill myself. Those who do kill themselves probably would've done it anyway, it doesn't take much to set off teenagers. Don't get me wrong though, if your life is miserable by a certain person they should be punished, I just feel that criminal offense is taking it too far.

You can't put kids in prison, that's what bullies are, a bunch of kids, the only thing that the school can do is expel them from school but this kind of kids don't see any problem with that.

Their parents could punish them but most of the arguments used by bullies parents are "boys will be boys", and even if the parents punish their kids it's usually something weak like "no TV for a month" or something useless like that.

The bullies could be sent to a military school but that doesn't come close to what they should get.
