If some other studio gets their hands on the franchise, for the love of god DON'T give it to Michael Bay...

Or worse still, Tom Cruise who owns United Artists.

Darn it. I loved Casino Royal :(

Hope someone else pulls Bond out of the frying pan.

shame. Craig was really good, despite the mis-steps made in Quantum of Solace. Casino Royale was easily on par with Goldeneye.

I agree. (Even though I really enjoyed Quantums attempt to weave a connective narrative between multiple movies, and the movie itself overall. ^_^) I really hope whatever company picks up the Bond Licence feels the same way about Craig as Bond, and greenlights immediate reshooting of the next Bond.

It's a shame that Bond has been trapped in film limbo, I really liked Casino Royal, but for me the news that The Hobbit may never see the light of day is the most crushing.
I love that book, perhaps more than The lord of the Rings, and was eagerly awaiting the films.
Here's hoping that somehow a solution is worked out.

It will be back. Everybody said the same thing after the Timothy Dalton period and then it came back with a vengence with Pierce Brosnan as Bond. Would have liked to see the boy Craig get more films. Thought he was wicked cool.

Hopefully they will recast Sean Connery and we can forget the years of awful sleaziness that Moore and Brosnan brought to the role!

Forget Bond, and I disliked Craig anyways, but doesn't MGM also own the rights to Stargate? That upsets me very, very much.

Um...Sean Connery is like, 80, that's a little old for James Bond...

What was wrong with Quantum of Solace?

OT: It's obviously not completely dead, but I do worry that Craig will not get the role again; he's my favourite by far.
It had the most spuratic camera switching I have ever seen in a movie, had a bad story, (Revenge is a cheap way to drive a film) a boring love interest, and didn't feel the least bit like a James Bond movie. There was no Q, no gadgets, and Bond was completely lacking the wit that made him him. The movie was just bad.

My biggest problem with QoS was the editing. Gods, what awful editing. I've been playing video games since the days of the Atari 2600, and I like to think I retain halfway decent "twitch" skills, but even I'm aware that you don't make an action scene more exciting with more than one "cut" a second; what you do is make it hard to follow the action or care. Someone in the editing booth had the attention span of a flea on crystal meth, and they should have been treated accordingly.

I thought Craig was an interesting Bond, though, and that Casino Royale was the most worthwhile Bond picture we'd had in a while. I hope they can get things worked out before he's too old for the part.

...Might help if some idiot hadn't decided that trying to screw over so many people tied to Lord of the Rings was an intelligent cost-cutting measure...

I'm hoping it gets revived, and that Craig is still interested in continuing in the role. Or we get a Sean Connery clone in...

Why do people like Daniel Craig as Bond so much? He's a pretty good actor, I liked him in Layer Cake and Defiance but I still don't see him as bond, he's too buff and blond/blue eyes, and the way he acts just didn't seem very Bond to me.

Maybe it's my generation, I grew up on Pierce Brosnan's Goldeneye, The World is not Enough, Die Another Day etc. Him and then Connery are my favorites by far.

Anyway, Bond is too big of a franchise to stay limbo'd like that, hopefully Universal, WB or someone picks it up, but I'd rather see a different Bond.

I can understand why people didn't like QoS for quite a few reasons already listed in this thread that I'm not going to rehash, but I completely disagree with the idea that gadgets and corny Bond wit make the films. One of my friends was raging hard after Casino Royale because these gadgets were missing.

Perhaps some more subtle, very high tech stuff would have been interesting, yet the corniness that had developed to unstable levels by the end of Brosnan's run were just offputting for me. It was a little refreshing to see it otherwise.

Yet, Michael Bay SPLOSIONSOMG would just be a return to this corniness, but if it means that Bond lives, I'd take it.

Obnoxious shakeycame in the extreme, terrible filming in general, poor directing, no sense of style, story that makes little sense but is instantly boring.

Goldeneye is my favorite because you could change the character names and title and it would still be an excellent movie on its own merits without leaning on the Bond crutch. It's also somewhat more grounded than other Bond films and features some fantastic settings and scenes (tank!)

Damn it, Bond! You can't die! You're Bond for crying out loud! They better find a way to fix this problem. I enjoy my Bond movies.
