And here I thought it was the director of Dances with Wolves finally coming after Cameron for Avatar. Darn.

The sad thing is that it wasn't a good story to begin with.

And I thought Pocahontas in space would be cool...

Hmmm... this sounds slightly more credible than the other people that have tried to sue James Cameron for stealing the story, but seems no more likely to succeed.

Guys, guys, guys. Avatar didn't rip off the plot of Pocahontas ... well, completely, that is.

It actually ripped off another Disney movie that wasn't really all that popular. This movie is called Atlantis: The Lost Empire. They even stole the villain with the facial scar!

Honestly, the plot for Avatar was so damn basic anyone could have a decent enough claim for having written it.
Though this one does seem to have some weight to it. I doubt the guy will succeed though, you don't get to make several billion dollars without also gaining some really really good lawyers to help crush cases like this.

I see your dances with wolves and raise you Pocahontas.

Seems like a rather silly lawsuit.
That image is pretty awesome, I haven't seen Pocahontas for over a decade and so I didn't realise how similar they were.

OT: He must hope to get a lot of money if he's actually willing to take responsibility for Avatar's plot.

Avatar may have had similarities with many other movies, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. In fact, I'm willing to say that Avatar was a much better movie than the ones it has similar plots or ideas with.

It doesn't matter if your movie has a similar message, idea, or general plot of another movie (Especially now when so many things have already been done), what matter is how you present it, how you direct it, and Avatar was directed very well.
