Gilson is going for the bouns round of insanity. How does he think this is going to end?
Depends on who he is. Jim said in the video when they asked Sony about Gibson Sony said to "leave it alone". And Gibson stole assets from skyrim and ori and the blind forest and Sony let them. Who knows who Gibson is and what resources they have?

Well, that also could have been a "blood out of a stone" like comment from Sony. Like they found out he's a nobody with nothing, and there isn't any point to paying him any mind. And they're just letting Jim know the guy's so much of a loser he isn't worth worrying about.

Either way, loved to see how quickly Jim Stephanie crushed this in round 1. I don't think round 2 is going to be easier on Gibson.

See that would make sense if the guy still wasn't uploading on Sony, and Sony wasn't still posting trailers for him. Like if he was just some loser Sony didn't care about, why support him?
I think he's some studio exec's son or has blackmail on someone in Sony.

Perhaps he's the video game equivalent of Tommy Wiseau, making shit things, but mysteriously having tons of money lying around to fund the projects. *cue X-Files music*

Sterling should know this was coming. I don't understand why they've been avoiding doing Jimpressions for most of the big titles that came out in the last five months and yet they'll take the time to showcase some piece of shit that nobody gives a shit about.

Shitty developers have a history of doing this and still Sterling wants to poke the bear. Why? The bear is diseased and people already mostly avoid it so you aren't really doing any sort of public service by showcasing it.

I wonder if Sterling is trying to find reasons to quit youtube. Just curious really.

From an absolutely 100% cynical point of view, Jim's channel was at its peak during the DigiHom issues, and its been going down ever since. If they're trying to revitalize the channel, poking the diseased bear worked in the past.

I mean it started going downhill because Sterling systematically stopped doing most of their content. And the only consistant show became the same repetitive shit over and over. Which is why i suspect self sabotage to get out of the youtube game.

I mean i dont know why they dont just bail since it is clear the heart aint into it anymore. Sterling is a writer and a fairly decent reporter based off previous jimquisitions, just move careers and be done with the youtube crap that has driven you nuts.

Somewhere in the video, Jim said that the show is crowdfunded (Which explains the lack of ads). But the patreon also says "Making the Jimquisition," so if that stops... then what? How many people would jump ship after that? Probably a lot. They might be paying Jim for that alone, and not the other content.

It might not be worth the risk due to the patreon money

They ran ads on all the other content. The patreon was literally JUST for the Jimquistion iirc. The jimpressions, the Squirty Plays, Steam Greenlight, etc, all that was ad ran.

And Jim might be afraid of quitting on his own. But if they can get someone else to shutdown their channel, then Sterling could use it as an excuse and be off the hook from the fans.

Well I suggest Sterling gets another job before actually quitting Youtube, but nothing is stopping them from looking while they wait right?

Jim has said more than once they can't stand working for other companies. They never got on well at Destructoid or even at the Escapist, they hate reporting to people, having editors, being told no on stories, being told yes on a story they don't want write, they even said they would never put themselves in a position to be under another person's payroll again.

So if they're not trying to stir up a controversy and get more subs from it, I have no idea what their endgame is. They don't want to do the JimQuisition anymore, they can't stand Youtube, they hate the AAA industry, they don't have an actual degree/credentials to be a journalist outside of the gaming spheres, and within the gaming sphere they're hated by just about everyone. Through ill will or intent they're kinda fucked.

Jim, who's whole youtube career is ranting about how evil companies are, can't get along in a normal work environment!? Color me shocked.

Maybe the problem is Sterling and not with everyone or everything else around them.

Yeah I really don't understand what the end goal is. I used to love Sterling, I really did, I still will put on a Jimpressions playlist or Squirty Plays series just to have someone chatting me up during a drive or whatever. But since the lawsuit it's been a rapid collapse.

And with current events I don't know what Jim can do, where they can get hired, what they intend to do for future work. It's really sad honestly.

I think in part its that Jim wants to shock people, to challenge them and damn the consequences, but in just a hum-drum work environment that's just about stability that's a recipe for a quick firing. Imagine Jim being told to cover like a sporting event and instead turning in a 5 page take on how many jizz loads each athlete could take in a hypothetical infinite jizz canon situation.

And in part there is a lack of self awareness.
It was a think the second to last Jimquisition where they went on and on about how abhorrent it is to use paid for artwork in a way the artist hasn't consented to, all the while jerking over pogs and playing random commercials and clipping it so they repeat Cum over and over and over. And im sitting there like wow, I wonder if the pog people or the actors in those commercials gave Jim permission.
But that goes back to my first point, Jim is at their core a shockjock. Their standup career in the UK was mostly just stream of consciousness shock humor that didn't go over well.
Maybe the best thing Jim can do is get over themselves and tone it down for a 9-5 job, and do the weird over the top sex with boglins stuff on the weekends.

Either way Jim is clearly exhausted and miserable with the state of things, and something needs to give, either themselves and move on, or the entire YouTube and AAA industries.

I agree, and I think Jim could make a lot better use of the Shockjock part of their personality in order to better get across points, and to get back into the real meat of covering games which I think is what a lot of people would want from them, myself included.

Sadly I don't think that's what's ever going to happen and I think Sterling will continue to break down and it'll end up being a very sad story.

I'm not sure that's it. They made a rather bitter comment about non Jimquisition stuff being only watched by ''about 10% of you guys'' which is a complaint he has subtly and not so subtly made many times in the past.

I do agree that he seems very burned out with his career. Aside from indeed barely doing anything aside from the Jimquesition they also come across as increasingly embittered and tired. I guess they have a reason to be bitter. The problems they bring up have only gotten worse and their resistance to it seems to have eroded any influence they once had. Sterling often grumbles about being blacklisted by just about everyone which is quite a step down from the days they got flown to Valve's office.

Around last summer I suspected Sterling would announce his retirement any day now but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I joked a while back life of black tiger got published because there was a picture of a Sony executive fucking a goat but that may actually be true considering how much Sony is still going to the mat for people like Gibson. I wouldn't be shocked if something really illegal is happening with Gibson games, blackmail or some tax write-off scheme.

I remember hearing in Japanese tech companies its 100000% who you know for advancement and promotion. I wouldn't put it past Gibson to have blackmail on some Sony execs, or to be related to one, or to just be one himself and he just greenlights his own work on his own behalf.
And the blatant stealing of assets from other games, at least Steam has the weak excuse of not moderating their releases, Sony full on put trailers for games on their Youtube channel that had Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack, and assets just taken from Skyrim. If its not a tax scheme, its a scheme of some kind. No one just makes shitty asset flip games for the fun of it, there's a scam going, and Sony wouldn't be backing a scam artist just for the fun of it either. There is something deeply illegal and sinister going on in the background here.
