Sooo.. A Japanese scientist has created a burger made using human feces.
If it were from anywhere else apart from japan, i'd assume it was a joke..

but anyway, would you eat one of these? o,O
Im not sure i could, even if i was starving to death on a desert island... but you never know

You might want to clarify for those who don't watch/read/have a brain that it is NOT made out of poop. It's made out of protein from bacteria for which poop is a suitable environment.
But still.. i dont think its any easier for people to get out of their heads that it comes from poop

I usually get annoyed at people for saying stuff like this, but here, everyone, join me in saying;
...God-freaking-damnit Japan. No. Just No.

This actually reminds me of a scene from Gulliver's Travels (the book. I haven't seen the movie), where there's an eccentric scientist who swears that one can process viable food back out of poop.

If it tastes good, and it smells good, it shouldn't really be a problem.

I think south park maybe did something similar but i cant really remember.

As for wanted to stop japan being weird, i say we should just run with it, eventually they'll invent something THEY find weird, and we find awesome

Is this real? Because that fridge said Shit Burger. And no, I highly doubt I'd be able to eat one if I knew where it came from.

That doesn't work... Poop is mostly processed, it doesn't contain too many calories. Even if they can collect and refine the few calories, what do you do with the poop of the poop burger.

Edit: Oh, I didn't watch it first.
I don't know if I would call that a poop burger. It's made from bacteria, not the feces itself. In mass production you might even streamline it to not use fecal matter.

Edit 2: Also, I would eat it, at least to see if it's good or not. It's probably healthier than McDonalds, and considering I can't eat one of their cheeseburgers without almost throwing up, it is probably higher quality/lower poop concentration than McDonald's burgers.

Yes, you people clearly never had to face hunger.

PS: Take a look at the article. It is processed feces. No difference to McDonalds.

On paper, with all the percentages of molecular ingredients it sounds fine, and i guess it has useful implications for solving food shortages.

But the whole time, i can't help but think.... its made of poo, its made of poo, bloody hell its made of poo!

japan is the leading cause of me banging my head against the wall.

why is it when japan says "We solved a global problem/ made a scientific break through!"
it always turns out to be either the stupidest or most disgusting thing ever conceived since cannibal holocaust?

People eat this?
I guess if I was starving, like really close to death, and no other food at all, not even broccoli, I might try one. If I didn't know what it was made of.

On the one hand, this is somewhat gross.

On the other hand, this DOES bring us one step closer to Star Trek's perfect recycling technology.

Except for Dwarf Bread. Anything tastes good compared to that. Like old boots, raw sheep, or your own foot.

Sorry, Terry Pratchett fan. Couldn't resist.

I don't see the problem. It's just protein. Of course I'd eat it. No different than drinking recycled water. It's clean, tastes just like beef, and it's completely renewable.
