....So? If I'm not mistaken, MGS1 is still on the PSN store, as well as the PSP version for thirty dollars. The overseas version is the better deal by far.
And what about those of us with an xbox?

Speaking of which I'm so happy this is coming out for the 360, now if only they'd port Metal Gear Solid 4.

Sounds like it's Japan that's getting the shaft. They're just getting a download code for MGS1? So it's probably just the PS One Classics version. I'd much rather have Peace Walker on PS3, as it means I can play that with proper controls rather than having to buy another PSP and deal with that gimped nonsense (I did have a PSP go at one point, and I played the Peace Walker demo, and I found the controls to be horrible. Slightly better than Portable Ops, but still horrible. I later sold the PSP to buy a Playstation Move and have not regretted it one bit).

So both sets will have:
MGS (8-bit)
MGS 2 (8-bit)
MGS 2 (PS2 remake)
MGS 3 (PS2 remake)
The first two are called "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake".

Its not that bad... In fact, its fine. Still comes with the original MGS, so you don't really lose anything.

Hell, its is a gain! You get Peace Walker, which the Japanese version doesn't ship with.

Eh. I already bought the first MGS off of PSN a while back, so it really makes no difference to me. And I already have Snake Eater lying around somewhere. So if I do end up getting this, I'll be getting 2, Peace Walker, and the 8-bit games. Gotta say, that's still a pretty good deal.

You know, to be fair, we already got a MGS1 remake on the ol' GCN.

Now, granted its expensive as fuck and futhermucking hard to find in the first place, but I digress.

Well I have played MGS1 like... 6 times now.

And it's not exactly a game that benefits from HD graphics or dual-thumbstick controls. Very much a game that is just suited for the graphics of the day especially with style and design choices. Even I as a graphics whore would argue MGS1 is best played in regular SD.

Peace Walker I think however DOES need dual-thumbsticks and I hope it gets it.

Since I already have MGS1 on my PS3, I won't really mind this. If it were an HD remake I might be bothered, but by the sound of things Overseasians get the better deal, since the content we're losing can still be gotten elsewhere, but AFAIK there hasn't been a standalone Peace Walker HD announcement for Japan.

P.S. Thanks

Well I think it's an amazing deal even without the first game, I have it on the PS1 and I can always rebuy it on the store. I am going crazy over this set ever since it was announced.

Also, I literally just shouted "FUCK YES!" at the original two MSX games being included. I was hoping they would include them as my Subsistence Disc is missing :3

I just wish that MGS3 was Subsistence.. That version is so much better IMO (due to the 3rd person)

No, they shipped with MGS3 Subsistence, on a seperate disk. MGS3 Snake Eater was just MGS3
MGS3 is the Subsistence version in this pack

Fans don't have to worry, it'll be converted, subbed and ready for download relatively soon after release if they care that much I'm sure. Nation spesific perks don't remain exclusive for long thanks to the internet and mods.

Sweet I'd heard rumors of a remake bundle but never followed it up, I'll take peace walker over mgs 1 any day since I already own it and even if you didn't its a 10 dollar ps 1 classic vs a 30 psp game brought to the ps3. Big fan of the series so I'll definitely pick this up really just another excuse to play through an excellent series while picking up some trophies and beating metal gear 2 and peace walker so theres some real value there for me.

This is a little disappointing. I would have liked to of seem an overseas remake of a classic then replay the PSP title. Kind of wanted to play through the three best mgs titles in HD.

MGS:pW (PSP remake)

Why can't we all just get all 5 instead of making it complicated like that? I understand that the overseas group are getting the better deal (downloadable PS1 game vs remastered PSP game), but still.
To be perfectly honest I think that the overseas group is getting the better deal. Peace Walker is an amazing game. One of the few handheld games I played that felt like a full game. However the lack of online Co-Op was limiting and the PSP control layout did not lend itself well to that type of game. (Though they made it work quite well.) MGS1 is a great game but it is also easily availble on the PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, PC, and Gamecube. Also since the downloadable game for the Japanese version is not in HD but the original game the only people really getting screwed here are people who only have an Xbox.

However your main point still stands. I can sort of see why Japan is getting MGS1 since it is a download coupon but why cut Pease Walker from their version? Also is the Japan bundle PS3 exclusive because Xbox dosen't have MGS1.

I was going to avoid this and was hoping to find a cheap copy of 3: Subsistence but now that I know that getting this collection would get me the rest of the metal gear games I have an interest in I am definitely getting it.

Japan is getting the low end of the stick as far as I'm concerned. A remastered Peace Walker is way better than simply getting the first game (not even remastered or anything, they could have ported Twin Snakes at least).

HAHAHA! This is great? To everyone thinking it's a disappointment, it's not, the US is getting the better deal, HAH! Take that Japan!
