Japan & US Getting Totally Different Metal Gear Solid HD Collections

So I want to make sure as it seems a bit vague in the ensuing posts. Are the HD upgrades of MGS2 and 3 the Substance and Subsistence versions? I also will add to the peanut gallery that I'm not bothered about not getting the original MGS download code. My god, this and the Ico/SotC remake bundle are giving me great incentive to buy a new PS3 XD.

Japan is getting the low end of the stick as far as I'm concerned. A remastered Peace Walker is way better than simply getting the first game (not even remastered or anything, they could have ported Twin Snakes at least).

My thoughts precisely.

It's not as though the first one is quite as fun as the games that followed.

Already have MGS1 on my ps3, and my peace walker is glitched so i cant get to the mission screen, this will be perfect for me as i can put my save onto the ps3 and continue

The lack of MGS1 is a little disappointing, but like Jin up there I've yet to play Peace Walker. That'll suffice well I suppose.

They said the HD remake would contain mgs2,3 and peace walker about a month ago so that part isnt exactly news.

I just wish that MGS3 was Subsistence.. That version is so much better IMO (due to the 3rd person)

Also, both versions of the collection will receive the original 8-bit Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2, as both titles originally shipped with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

No, they shipped with MGS3 Subsistence, on a seperate disk. MGS3 Snake Eater was just MGS3

So, we're getting a PSP remake instead of a pass to download an old game?, sounds like a better deal to me.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the first Metal Gear, I finished that game easily like 20 times in 3 different versions (PS1 japanese, PS1 american and GameCube remake), but still it's not that of a big deal, especially if the game costs $10 in the PSN, wich is pretty cheap for a great game. Also, pretty much anyone interested in this game is much more likely to have bought the game already.

Its not that bad... In fact, its fine. Still comes with the original MGS, so you don't really lose anything.

Hell, its is a gain! You get Peace Walker, which the Japanese version doesn't ship with.

Uh, no it doesn't. It comes with the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. They're separate, and actually prequels, to Metal Gear Solid.

It's still a great deal mind you. Though I am disappointed, since as an xbox player, I can't get the original MGS D:
