Well, there's Japan for you. Now America needs a Metal Gear REX and Britain needs a giant Queen Elizabeth robot, lol.

Completely impractical military hardware FTW!

They'll need a screwed up teenager to pilot it though, otherwise it won't work.

Oh, FFS.

So very, very many reasons why that is a bad idea.
So very, very many, that I fail to list just one because I don't know where to start, indeed. Excuse me while I sit here in stunned silence for a moment, this is just stupid and an offense to my pragmatic mind.

Mind you, up until recently it'd make sense. Until the 2nd Gulf War, Japan wasn't allowed to sned troops anywhere, but they changed that cause the US wanted more flags.

So, all they'd be fighting would be Godzilla or them aliens that Gamera fights.

I asked a comply of months ago, on this very forum, why don't we have real gundam yet! It appears that a Japanese R&D guy was looking for new ideas here on that day

A real Gundam at the price of the Japanese economy. Is it worth it? This needs to be debated.

This is just hilarious though, I can't wait to link this to my friend who loves Gundam, just to hear his reaction.

I assume you saw the show?

Ironically, they pit MEGAS up against some anime *looks up wikipedia* Endless Odyssey, keeping only like 4 letters away from being an exact duplicate. Captain Harlock = Captain Warlock.

They also had giant robots.

I never saw the anime, but I found it doubly hilarious when I learned of it parody here.

"I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman... Well, actually, I don't. I have the body of a fuck-off giant mecha. Eat lead dragon!" *dakka-dakka-dakka*

The costs that the nations of the world take to win their militaristic pissing contest is pretty staggering. First America with their boats and now Japan. Still like with the boat I will have the biggest smile when it gets blown the hell up or captured in the first engagement. That said, unlike the boats this is actually going to be hilarious the whole way through so I say go for it.

I don't disapprove of it for being impractical, because it's beyond that. It's just not real, I don't think anyone could seriously consider building a humanoid robot of that size to use for anything.

I would complain about the impracticality of, say, a baneblade-style heavy tank, but a Gundam? It's just not a real thing. No-one would really do it except as a joke.

Although, ideally we should change that some day, and building an 18-metre $700-million thing that can't do anything more impressive than walk, and walks like a cripple because it has no balance, is a step forwards. So I'm still in favour of this moronic idea.

This idea could not possibly be any better.

I agree with the $745mil price tag for the massive one, but considering you could build a reasonable sized power armor for under $1mil, you have what is effectively a cheaper tank that only requires 1 crew member and is a fucking gundam.

Also, just putting it out, but if i was a multi-billionaire i would buy me the shit out of a full sized gundam and outfit it with a couple GAU-8s on each hand.
I would then stop paying taxes and make my government aware of the fact that i now own the Northern Territory.
All of it.
