I'm sorry, you lost me at 'I own rape porn.'
Why? Rape fantasy is one of the most common fantasies among both sexes.
Because if one owns plenty of rape porn and has that as a personal fetish, they can hardly be objective about this event. I mean, if we're going to be judging people based on their reactions to this event...
Yet someone with a personal vendetta can be objective? No. The only really person qualified to judge this would be an asexual sociopath. Don't think for a second we don't all have some bias in this. We just have to do our best to think and argue logically.

i think there's very few people in the world who can be objective about rape.

I may not be scathed by video game gore and guts (Prototype, I'm looking at you-) but rape is out of the question. Who would play this? Why dont they got to a bar and get some actual romance in the real world? Has Japan gone mad? Where IS waldo?

Gang Raped by the Entire Village ~Girls Covered in Milky Liquid
Is it bad that I laughed? I don't think I've ever seen less pretension in a game's title.

This is just...really pathetic, disgusting, and sad. Call me a weak-stomached fool who wants to shut down games because I don't personally like them, but if I were in charge, those 'rape games' would be banned, all of them, and I'd put out a notice saying, 'If you attempt to replicate said rape simulators, there will be severe consequences and/or lawsuits against your companies.'

Creating a rape simulator is never justified no matter what you try and call it.
I respect your opinion, but I have to ask. Are you saying that's how it shouldbe? Or how you'd like it to be?

I personally can't see any valid logic in banning something harmless because the content makes you uncomfortable. It's not like these are mainstream on-shelve games. They're simply a different style of porn, and should be treated as such.
Honestly? It's how I'd like it to be. I probably should have mentioned beforehand that I'm not completely objective about this whole event; rape is something I've always been disgusted by.

Maybe my initial post was a bit too strong, but I guess you could say that was my knee-jerk reaction to this news. Sorry if I caused any confusion.
Ah, thanks for clarifying

As I said several posts above this one, that was my knee-jerk reaction to the event in general.

I want to state once again that I don't have a problem with anyone who personally feels like this Eroge company's games shouldn't be banned, only with the developers themselves.
Sorry, I missed your last post when I typed that one.

Calling one of those games a rape simulator is just as accurate as calling CoD:4 a murder simulator. Welcome to the forums, Jack Thompson.

P.S.- I've played RapeLay, and I still know nothing about raping women.
Surprising you've played RapeLay and you still think CoD:4 = Murder is about as close as RapeLay = Rape. If you're going to take the time to simulate the tears and terror in the victim [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/hentai-game-reviews/rapelay.php] (NSFW), I'd say you indeed had the goal of creating a rape simulator. The only thing you're apparently pining over is the infeasibility of the scenario presented.

Must I remind everyone that rape is actually a lesser crime than murder? And murder occurs in lots of videogames, people doesn't even react on it anymore. So I don't see why Rapelay is worse than for example Assassins Creed.

You can't just ban a game because you preform illegal activities in it, then you'd have to pull GTA and man hunt.
YES the game is in VERY poor tastes and YES rape is a horrible crime, but Japan is still a free country and you have to remember: its a game.
we're always the first to say "video games don't incourage violance" so we can't say it incourages rape (atleast without being tottal hypocrites).

My point exactly.

You can't argue against rape porn for moral reasons without arguing against violent video games at the same time. Because if someone claims rape porn leads to real rape and at the same time argues that violent games don't lead to real violence then he creates paradox and a contradiction.
My thoughts exactly. We are so desensibilized of murder that we even let kids play thieves and cops, they simulate that they kill each other! so why not let grown people play a game in wich they simulate raping.

would you be against and adult couple that in part of their private life role play as rapist-victim?

What if said rape simulators were keeping actual rapists off the streets?

It's a stretch I know, but I'm just trying to be awkward :)
I'd say they only serve to foster rapist tendencies. If the market is catering for the depraved, they'll get the illusion that they're not only tolerated, but recognized as a bona-fide demographic.

No.
What these people need is rehabilitation. Ice-cold. From a hose. Seven days a week.

Aren't Sony's classic games already sold under the Platinum name?

I can't wait to hear what they make of this...
Maybe Sony should fight fire with fire and rename their classic games Rapest Hits.

That'll learn 'em.

[small](and it probably wouldn't be the most bizarre marketing ploy Sony use this year)[/small].

I took a moment one day to contemplate the thought of nerf guns and since then have been unable to think of video games as anything approaching a murder simulator in comparison.

The rape thing, the game is pretty funny to watch in action. Thouroughbred is however a much, much, more disturbing title which will likely bring in more of their seedy consumer base.

*Slinks off suspiciously*

Because if something is against one's sensibilities, he will be unbiased about it. True objective opinion is the rarest commodity in the world.

I don't play eroge (and have no plans to), so this doesn't affect me much. Can we all just agree that this issue was blown out of proportion? The game wasn't meant to be seen outside of Japan anyway.

Now for a little change of pace: from the previous page, I saw some "it's just a game" replies. I know where you guys are coming from, but will there come a point when "it's just a game" is no longer enough?

EDIT:
I've read the Something Awful link and, since I didn't research this game, well, dammit I'm at a loss for words.
