They don't have PC's in Japan they all use DS's instead...
Nah, the cell-phones in Japan are years beyond ours and provide them with every single possible human comfort.

The PC (as a gaming platform) isn't as popular in Japan, sure - but that's not to say there's not Japanese games out there...

Japanese doujin / indie game-makers rate as the best Shmups out there.

ABA games anyone?

The indie scene in japan on the PC seems very strong, and they often recieve attention outside Japan.

For a pretty extensive list of Japanese indie PC games out there

Cave story, which I've seen mentioned here before, is a translated Japanese endeavour

As for commercial games from large games developers, apart from the 'dating sims' which don't really have a market in the US or Europe, most of them do tend to be (often shoddy) ports from the console.

Much like many US commercial games for the PC from large games developers nowadays...

Truthfully, unless you're really into schoolgirls, tentacles, and combinations of the two you'll find that Japan isn't exactely well known for its retail PC games. Personally I'm still a bit surprised that Resident Evil 4 among other games have made their way onto the PC as ports.

There is a fairly active indie scene there however, likely because the retail support is so small there and those few people who've invested in a decent PC need something to use it on.

Craploads of Visual Novels as far as I know. Probably RPG's too. Actually, doesn't the Final Fantasy series count as 'Japanese'? And Metal Gear Solid, now that I think of it. a few parts in both of those series have been released on the PC, I think only MGS2 got ported to the PC, and FF7, FF8 and FFXI for PC?

Yeah, visual novels are, like, 70% of Japanese PC games. Also, I don't think FFIX was ever released on PC.

Korea Is the country over there with the PC games. Japan is just too far ahead of us lowly computer-tards.
