Forget the music. Holy freaking crap this technology is awesome.

Why did it take me this long to hear about this?

Can't compare to another holographic concert.

Virtual artists are old so I can't really say I'm surprised.

Also, what was with the Y-shaped glowsticks? o_O
Its a <link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbbA9BhCTko>meme.

Using this technology on gaming seems a bit waste. I'd rather try enchanting the gaming with <link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5spuwsAeoIo&feature=related>augmented reality. Atleast Kinetic is going to the right direction, though with wrong mindset....and possibly wrong device..

Others probably mentioned this but I have to say Macross Pluss. Seriously, when is it going to start ending up killing people this singing computer. Also, whose the human being they used for the program!

im seriously creeped out that people like this. it wasnt even very good, it sounded so synthesized, my mac could sing better.
That is because it is synthesized. All of the singing was made with the Vocaloid 2 program.

You know, to be completely honest, I don't think she's any worse then some of the pop-icons people follow.

As a lot of people stated, it's not for me , but, I think she looks pretty neat. =)

I believe something similar was used for a Gorillaz concert 5 years ago?

Difference being Gorillaz is an actual (awesome) band, while this is just..strange..

Okay, this is kind of cool/creepy, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that this is a very good quality hologram. On par, or even better than those predicted by the Star Wars universe and other such movies.

It's best we accept it: The future is here, and it is very, very Japanese.

Am I the only one more interested in how the hologram tech works than how weird it is that Japan has holographic pop stars?
Not at all. I want the blueprints to one of those things. This is a huge step-forward in technology -though, for this life of me, I can't think what use it would have except in the entertainment industry.

Star Wars didn't use a giant glass plate to project their holograms on ;) Its not as impressive as you'd might think. This technology has been around for years. Whats really mind boggling is how they're using it.

I read the headline and suddenly I realized: We're in the motherfucking future.
The only things that are left are flying cars and jetpacks. Oh... And laser weapons.
Actually, those all exist already.

So yeah, like I said. Motherfucking future.

Hatsune Miku is clearly popular, judging by the hundreds of adoring fans in these videos, so there must be a place for a fake popstar.

Yeah... giant blue cat people starring in the highest grossing movie of all time is way more reasonable.

I love bringing that up every time people start using the term "fake" re: Miku. It's tech, anyone with half a braincell can tell that there's no real person there. But there's real (talented) people behind the tech. However, since it's tech in it's infancy deal with it. If you don't like it, don't whine about it just smile and run away.

You can use a hand-held and very portable device to:
Talk to people on the other side of the continent
Check the weather in Acapulco from Berlin in real time
Watch moving pictures with sound and music
Plot a route to anywhere on the planet

It's been the future for a looong time indeed. We would have probably crashed our flying cars anyway.

That was my first reaction to the entire Vocaloid thing. Rather than fantasizing about what their future could be like, Japan's actually doing something to achieve it, although I'll take giant mecha over Ai singers any day.

Uh. Holy Shit?

I guess ot was only a matter of time, considering this is Miku we're talking about. I mean, even fucking No More Heroes has Miku on one of the songs, for fuck's sake.
