Japanese PS3 vs. US PS3

Well actually I wonder if there is some sort of tv service program that the PS3 has that is exclusive to Japan. I'm thinking something similar to all those cool extra wiiware programs the Wii has over there.

They are utterly the same in every possible way, hardware and function hell get one from India if you want they are region free so utterly no point.

The Japanese ps3 will use circle as X which is annoying. Also games arent region locked(yet) but blu-rays and dvds are so be careful if thats what you want it for and not pure gaming.

That doesn't work. I tried it when FF7 was available in japan those first few months b4 it was released on the USA PSN. In theory you would think it would. But it deosn't. Unless im doing something wrong. If i had to guess its one of those thigns that everyone has heard about but nobody has ever actually seen it work. >.> though i have been wrong before

It does between Eu and US anyway because my friend has been using it for the socom update.

I know it's not intended to be a versus thread, but when you say in the title that it's a versus thread, the message comes off as "What is the differences, and how do they make the other one better?"

Misleading title that makes the message of the thread look versus-y

The topic title speaks for itself. What are the differences (if any) between the Japanese model of the PS3 and the US model? Does it cost more in yen? I tried Google and only got the answer to the cost question.

Not aware if there is a difference in the hardware. Be warned though, IF you import a console, you void your warranty with the manufacturer & the support lines will not help you.

You would need to set up a PSN account with an address in the country of choice.

If the thread was about which one was better, sure, but he/she just wants to know the differences so I really can't see harping on him about the thread title. Normally I'm one of the first people to ***** about vs. threads too.
