he was funny when he busted out Achmed for the first time, but when he got his own show.....that was the straw that broke the camels back, from that point he started to suck

He has talent.........as a ventriloquist.

He's an okay comedian at best. But you have to admit, pretty much every single joke of his is basically stereotypical. Achmed is the Muslim stereotype. Bubba J is the redneck stereotype. Walter is the cranky old man stereotype. Peanut is the annoying friend that won't shut up stereotype. Jose the Jalapeno is the Mexican stereotype, pretty much the only character of his that I could kinda consider original is Melvin the Superhero, and even that one is basically kind of a nerd stereotype, and that still doesn't make it anymore funny.

I actually fairly laughed at his jokes when I first heard them, but then when he repeats the said jokes, it can get so pants-shittingly annoying.

And I think we can all agree that his show was just............................let's just say that it shall never be discussed. Ever.

Jeff made me angry back when Achmed was just a terrorist, but he's been fleshed out a little and now I'm happy with him.

I went to a live show, and I gotta say the man is a fantastic improviser. He ended up turning one woman's shriek of surprise into a ten minute gag, and every moment was funny.

I thought Achmed was funny the first time. I never saw anything else. But Achmed was pretty good.

Maybe I don't get it, but I don't see how mocking terrorists could be considered offensive.

I used to like him, I guess mostly because when I get excited I tend to be a fair bit like Peanut. But after watching only 10 minutes of one episode of his show I can't stand him anymore.

I think he is hilarious!

EDIT: Nope, scratch that I got Jeff Dunham confused with Jim Gaffigan

He was hilarious, but nothing would be able to stay funny if it was quoted that much.
I've only seen Achmed and I think I've seen the Walter one, but I thought they were both really good.

Shame so many other people agree.

Jeff Dunham and his Achmed the Dead Terrorist routine have become world famous. He has over 110 million views on ONE video on Youtube, for example.

However, despite the massive hype and reverence people seem to have for him, I don't like him. Infact, he is my most hated "comedian" if I can even describe him as one.

His act is, to put it mildly, made up of inflammatory material. He seems to shove "I Kill You" into nearly every sentence. His "jokes" are cheesy and crass, and the punchline is easily worked out before he gets to it.

To put it simply, I don't find him funny. I despise the man, simply because he drags the spotlight away from genuinely talented comedians who put more thought into a routine than "I Kill You".

However, I'm very well aware that the majority of people seem to find him hilarious, and I wondered what people on The Escapist think.

The Poll options are simple because its a simple question: Do you find him funny?
You understand that Achmed isn't his only skit and that his others are much better put together?

I tried to give him a chance. I watched that one horrible DVD of him and I watched part of that stupid Dead Terrorist routine... he is honestly one of the worst comedians I have ever seen and the fact that so many people think he's hilarious just blows my mind. Sure, he's a pretty good ventriloquist but his jokes just make me cringe. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but so many people constantly quote him and everyone talks about him as if he's the funniest man on earth. I would even say Dane Cook is a ton funnier.

You mean like this?

Or this?

Honestly, I try to laugh. I want to think it's funny... I just can't.

What about Dane Cooke, plenty of people hate that idiot too.

Oh topic, I have no idea how Dunham managed to get an entire show, almost all of his puppets (which only seem to be useful for one routine only) are one-joke machines. Ahkmed was funny for the first 5 minutes but every time I see that character now it just makes me annoyed. One joke over and over and a pretty damn racist joke at that. Most of his other puppets (basically all but Walter) are pretty offensive too.

Jeff Dunham is funny if you watch him for 15 minutes every few years but on a regular basis? Atrocious.

And you forgot the actuall poll.

There is some fun to be found, but he's just a guy with cheap puppets.
Far from a true talented ventriloquist. I simply couldn't stand his flapping mouth while he pretended to be awesomely skilled.

I'd rather watch endless reruns of the original muppets or a not-so-funny, yet very skilled, ventriloquist.

He WAS funny back in the good ole' days when he didn't have a god-awful series; I find that when a genuinely good comedian is given a show, the comedian in question stops being funny. They did it to Christopher Titus, George Lopez, Carlos Mencia and now to Jeff Dunham.

Of course there are exceptions; Tosh.0 is doing very well, mainly because it's a Web Soup knock-off for people that don't G4 (actually, I think they decided to axe that show in favor of more Cops). And of course Dane Cook doesn't need a series to blow chunks; hell, he didn't need all those movies to underline his comedic incompetence.

He has a TV show? Good thing I never watched it.

He was alright at first, but then I found better comedians. Also, you lied! There is no poll!

I've seen better ventriloquists. I've heard better comedians. He's a fairly decent ventriloquist and a terrible comedian. He just gained notoriety for a few unique/racist characters. I think his show proved just how "funny" he truly is.

I hate him, I have watched his entire comedy special and a tv episode and I didn't laugh at any of his jokes but a lot of my friends insist on watching but I hate it.
