A Jewish rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a stray dog it feared was the reincarnation of a lawyer who insulted its judges, reports say.
Words fail me in how messed up this is. Grown up adults who appear to weild some form of political power want to have a dog put to death because they think it's the reincarnation of some guy they'd put a curse on twenty years ago. I... Just... Words fail me.

But that isn't even the sickest part of the whole thing.

One of the judges at the court in the city's ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim neighbourhood had reportedly asked local children to carry out the sentence.
In. Credible.

This is worse than drug dealers who use children as couriers.

Old news, happened like a week or so ago, I already forgot I was angry about it... But c'mon, like we didn't know religious extremes were crazy.

Also, doesn't this belong in the politics forum?

I have just lost faith in humanity.

I will now shoot myself.

Or stone myself.

Does that mean there will be one less person saying "I have lost faith in humanity" every five minutes?

I wasn't aware Judaism included a belief in re-incarnation?

*edit* I was also unaware that Judaism included the concept that an animal is capable of being the vessel for a soul, for that matter.

I agree. That seems to be a staple of these forums.

OT: Well, if it is of a lawyer, I can't object really.
But in all honesty, I don't think this is a good idea. I also wonder how this is legal.

How can you not look at this and think that? This is an example of utter barbarism committed by paranoid lunatics in a position of power over weak-minded people.

Oh very much so, the soul is as far as I know (according to Judaism) is in the blood, that's why jews aren't allowed to eat raw meat (or meat that wasn't specifically prepared - drained of its blood) so they wouldn't devour another being's soul. Its mentioned briefly after the story of Noah's flood, that humans are then allowed to eat animals (as opposed to being vegetarian) but not their blood.

Yeah religious fanatics are fucked up. But its better than when they try to stone humans that drive cars on sabbath.

I think this is relevant. Fundamentalists will refuse to move on, and the sun will shine and the grass will grow. I'm just glad it's a dog and not some random pregnant teenager or disabled individual.

What he means is that the majority of users on this site always say "I have just lost my faith in humanity" to threads like this.

Hey, they are actually following their holy book! I only wish that Americans would do this type of thing more! /sarcasm

Seriousy, they are following their holy book, which is why I'm pissed off. I'm sorry that reasonable people have to bring religions kicking and screaming into the modern day. That is all.

Because shit happens? I have seen literally thousands of "I lost my faith in humanity! Look how cool I am Gais!" posts on these forums and it gets damn old damn quick.

I wonder how they came to that conclusion, i mean..Its a dog.
That's about where I'm at.

If they didn't find it with a suit and tie, briefcase, and "Objection!" speech bubble, I don't understand why they'd think it's a reincarnated lawyer.

And that's also a terrible thing for them to do.

Because one action made by a few people in a court does not define them, nor does it define humanity.
