Jim should go to more websites

I don't think it can be disputed, Jim Sterling is a visionary. His videos are both funny and intelligent, and they raise a lot of questions that need to be answered. In fact, he deserves to be heard much more than he is. Hell, there's some of his fans at Destructoid, the website he started at, that haven't even heard of these videos. So I suggest that some of his Jimquisition videos - not all, but some - be shown on other sites, much like Screwattack's videos are now on this one. Let's spread his wisdom across the internet, until all are under his dominance. So, what do you guys think?

Bonus round: +4 Internets to whoever can link him to Kevin Bacon in six degrees or less.

Podtoid, the podcast that Jim does with Conrad Zimmerman and Jonathan "Freaky Constantina" Holmes, exists in the same canonical universe as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In one episode (of Buffy, not Podtoid) apparently, someone asks if they want to play "Kevin Bacon". There, two degrees. Sort of.

Anyway, while I agree that Jim's videos should be seen by more people, I don't think they should just be hosted on other sites. This sort of content is what brings people to The Escapist, alongside Zero Punctuation.

Actually, links to the Jimquisition videos (as well as the Rhymedown) are posted to Jim's blog on Destructoid as soon as the video goes up on The Escapist. If people who frequent Destructoid aren't aware of the Jimquisition videos then I must believe they are actively avoiding them.

Visionary? Are you joking? He points out obvious shit about the video game industry in an amusing fashion. I like Jim, but that's going too far. Should more people watch his videos? Maybe. If they enjoy the material.

This.

He expresses opinions (which are fairly legitimate given his position) on current events. Hardly a visionary. Quite funny though.

Lisa Foiles - Casper Van Dien (Shiver [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1800734/])
Casper Van Dien - Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/])
Michael Ironside - Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First Class [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1270798/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast])

Well-put. I just started watching Jimquisition about a week ago. He has an amusing style, and on the whole I like his videos, but I don't think he's really prone to having brand new, ground breaking viewpoints. His newest one about launch titles was pretty interesting.

Why would this particular webseries be on multiple sites? He does other features on other sites; wouldn't Escapist basically own the rights to the "Jimquisition" show? It's not like Mr.Sterling's some new, unkown personality that needs to be advertised to the masses.

I actually used to really hate the Jimquisition. Everything video was, as people said in this topic, obvious shit.
Then I realized something.
People are stupid.
People NEEDED that obvious shit laid out on a platter for them in order to digest it.
So now I don't hate the show, but rather appreciate it as a vehicle to deliver important messages to a demographic for who it isn't obvious.

but yahtzee is still better

Jim Sterling is easily my favorite video game personality. All the other ones have proven to either be pandering shills or just plain dumb (or a personality with a purpose like Yahtzee). Jim has sensible opinions, is always consumer-minded, and is surprisingly not stubborn. I was expecting his Xbox 180 coverage to be completely slamming the Xbone and saying its DRM policy being changed wasn't enough. Instead he hailed it as a victory for consumers as WE collectively scared Microsoft and their shareholders enough that the unfriendly business practices they had set in motion ceased to exist. Not only that, but I've been a fan of almost every movie in Movie Defense Force. Jim videos are the only ones I actively get excited for.

Definitely not a visionary. He brings up great points about anti-consumer policies in the industry but I don't think it's all as doomsday as he makes it out to be. He repeats himself a lot, too. Should he go on different sites? Probably not, I like to have different viewpoints from different people. I would like to see him start a series on Rev3 Games with Adam Sessler. They just had a panel together, and it was awesome. Adam comes off as apologetic for the AAA industry and Jim comes off as anti-AAA industry, but when they came together, they normalized each other and came up with much more insightful ideas about gaming. Can't remember where it was, just Google Sterling and Sessler.

Hopefully some of those ppl are individual video game execs who can watch his videos and have a better understanding of their customers, atleast the vocal minority anyway.

I wonder what the industry thinks of Jim as I wonder how the hell the hell he manages to stay in publishers good graces and secure the perks for Dtiod that most major gaming sites need to survive, I know Jim / Dtoid are already blacklisted from Konami*

* Which tbh for me in the UK wouldn't amount to a crock of shit anyway.

He probably stays in good graces by not going out of his way to bash them. Besides, he clearly has his own guilty pleasures and such, he's not always negative.
I'm willing to bet Sega wouldn't be stoked to see him after he gave Sonic Colours a lower score than most people gave Sonic 06 though

I guess i am the odd one out as i don't get why Jim gets the praise he does to be honest. His opinions are so wishy washy and seem to change from one video to the next.Do not get me wrong he can absolutely hit some subjects on the head really well but then sometimes the stuff he comes out with makes me wonder if he has any idea of the subject he is talking about.

I find him heavily over rated as a games journalist but i will leave it at that.Jim Sterling is no visionary and needs to dig a bit deeper into non obvious subjects for me to even stand out from the crowd.

I mean they can easily be linked, I don't see why they should be hosted elsewhere, especially since the escapist pays him to make them. Also the escapist has a youtube channel that posts jimquisitions (albeit a bit late) so they can even be embedded.

I do agree they should be shared around though. I wouldn't call him a visionary, but I really feel like we need more powerful pro consumer voices to rally behind so that companies actually see some noticeable backlash when they try to fuck the consumer around. Angryjoe and totalbiscuit also do this, though I don't find them as entertaining. Agree or disagree with them on what games they like or social issues or whether they're funny or not. They have the platform to be heard and they're using it to stand up for us, and that's undeniably a good thing.
