Oh dear heavens, what did I just witness?

OT: Daw. I really liked his Objective FFXII Review. I wonder where he'll go next.

His reviews were all over the place on Destructoid. He was routinely famous for having the absolutely lowest review "score" for current games, but then he'd give something like Call of Duty almost a perfect score. For instance, his latest review, Batman: Arkham Origins was given below a 5, and he lauded it for being repetitive and more of the same with nothing new. Hello, where was that same criticism for Modern Warfare 3 for which he gave a 9.5? Whatever, man.

The criticisms he laid down on one game wouldn't carry over to the next game he reviewed, and it was just everywhere. To be honest I think it has less to do with his own integrity and more to do with Destructoid's questionable policy on game reviewing.

...I think Destructoid has to be the place I see stuff by Jim the least. So this doesn't affect my viewership of him and am looking forward to see what goes up on the new youtube channel.

I don't know that it's fair to judge Sterling's reviews for B:AO vs MW3. Partially, I think, because of what different games try to do. We all may be sick to death of COD games (oh god, please stop... please stop making COD-only players think they are gamers, and flooding our community with cretins and 12 year old homophobic racist wannabes), but if COD games are doing what COD games are meant to do, and they are doing them well, then maybe they don't deserve bad scores just because they are COD games. B:AO, on the other hand, is a very bad attempt to pull off what B:AA did brilliantly and B:AC did only kinda-competently, and that deserves a bad score.

Sterling leaving D-toid is not a great thing, but it's probably good for him and good for The Escapist. It's possibly good for D-toid in the end in that, if they need a dedicated editor, I rather doubt it's him, considering all his other projects. Hell, if means Movie Defense Force every week instead of every two weeks... they are always good for a laugh.

I have kinda mixed views on Sterling, overall. I generally think he's a very smart guy and I generally agree with his opinions, editorials, and reviews, wholeheartedly. I just, sorta... can't take him. My wife laughs at Yahtzee despite saying she finds his voice grating. That's how I feel about Sterling. I can put up with his reviews and his editorials, but the voice can get a bit irritating and once I connect the voice and the face (mannerisms), I find that, while I agree with him, I also have this urge to punch him in the mouth at the same time.

Am I the only one?

I love his Destructoid reviews, and I really hope he'll start reviewing here; that would be awesome.

As for Destructoid, they've just lost some real talent.

Well i wish that Jim will realize his dream be it wheever he goes. Im not the onle to idolize people, i dont have perfect movie star or anything like that that some people seem obsessed with, but Jim, Jim has brought this in me, i just cant get enough of him. His videos on Escapist, his podtoid, his youtube (to which i subscribed way before he decided to revive the channel, premonitions.... not deadly i hope[footnote]hes doing a chunky play of deadly premonition, this was supposed to be a pun[/footnote]).
The only thing im genuinely sad about is that he is probably not going to be on a Podtoid, and that i now have to go though the effort of deleting my destructoid account (i dont like loose ends).

Jims voice proves god exists because only god could create something so perfect. I guess you got my opinion here.

Actually that was a false rumor. During the high of this rumor Jim actually went and counted his scores. Average was above 7 (i dont remember exact number now, was years ago).

After his last review comes out, I will be canceling my HUGE subscription to the site.

The overall content of the website is going down and Jim Sterling was in my opinion holding up the whole site.
Also Podtoid was amazing.

PS. I am also sick of the site owners fetish with dogs.

Even his tweets are silly. & as soon as I read "vagina warrior radical feminist", I couldn't help but picture Jim in a giant vagina costume, holding a sword & shield, wearing a viking helmet with pigtails.

OT: Troubled times in the Kingdom of Jim... I'm sure it's nothing and the promised land is still a reality...

Oh... and good luck, Jim! Let us know when you'll do a written review here on the Escapist, ya hear? Or would a "wildcard"-esque Escapist column suffice for you?

Time to take Destructoid off my bookmark list, it seems.
Yeah... Jim was the only reason I ever went to Destructoid. I hear they have a decent community over there, but now that Jim's gone I suppose I'll never find out >.>
Oh god no... their forums are a mess, if that's what you're talking about.
The forum site barely works! I actually have to remove sections of the website with an adblocker because they've scaled incorrectly and covered half of the bloody page. Oh, and they have an awards system like here it seems, but it displays ALL OF THEM, and the maximum size for avatars is far too large.

Not exactly a friendly community either... but maybe that's just me.

People keep saying that, but it isn't what Jim said at all. Here's a quote from the review [http://www.destructoid.com/review-batman-arkham-origins-264357.phtml]:
Jim Sterling said:
The only good in Origins comes from work already accomplished in previous games, with a whole lot of bad added in
In other words, the problem isn't that they didn't change anything, the problem is that the changes made it worse. Here are a few of the changes listed in the review:
*Story feels contrived, especially with this being the first appearance of EVERY villain
*Most of the villains are D-list
*Narrative isn't very fleshed out
*Combat feels off
*Boss fights aren't up to the standard Mr. Freeze set last time
*It's glitchy to the point of being almost unplayable
*Multiplayer mode feels shoehorned in and isn't very good

If it gives him more time to do his Youtube content I'm pretty happy. I wonder if meeting TB at the Escapist expo inspired him a bit?

Regardless, I really like his youtube content :)

If the allegations are true with Destructoid, they have lost my respect for the most part. Seriously, we NEED critical reviews in this industry so it's not all the same asspatting and dongle sucking each other for decent scores.

Does this mean Jim will talk critical about Destructoid now as he's not on board with them now?

That would be a bit hypocritical from him wouldn't it.

I'm a Jim Sterling fan, I'll follow his reviews wherever they go, because he is no non-sense and isn't afraid to blast garbage as being garbage?something really rare in game reviews these days.

Best of luck Jim!

He has also given Call of Duty: Ghosts a low score. 5/10.
