So true Jim...so, so true. I have to admit I'm not sure I entirely got Yahtzee's this week but it was a well put together poem and it made me laugh a couple of times.

I get the feeling Jim has been playing too many mobile games recently. Perhaps the whole reviews editor thing is too much, making him play too much shit. Still, at least we get fun commentaries on youtube.

Jim's was bang on the nose this week.

Can't say the same about Yahtzee's. It was nice in theory, but the conclusion didn't really work; surely the cynical hero only got the statue because he demanded a reward, not because he was somehow better than the noble hero. His methods were more efficient, but the results were the same.

At first I wasn't sure what Jim's poem was supposed to be about, until the iPad part that is, then it became painfully clear.

I usually play the Noble Hero, moreso if the world I'm in (Fallout, for instance) seems really bleak and hateful. Hearing Yahtzee's bit today, I wonder if I ever came across as really creepy and unnatural to the people of the wastes, like they all suspected I must have been up to something...

Cynical hero is almost exact description of one Geralt of Rivia. It is interesting that Yahtzee hated the games but maybe if he could get a little patience he would come to love him like everyone else.

Thought he was going to say the while the cynic would be remembered the statue was there simply because he paid for it with his reward.

Though I suppose he is right that being the noble hero all the time can be boring and tiresome.

I'll take that vibe then. Especially in anything multiplayer online game, people tend to take it far too seriously, even if in the game you fight as diablo versus malfurion. Oh, and there's a ghost ship up for grabs that destroys everything, which by rights it shouldn't because diablo just rampaged. But that's artistic license.

Patience is one thing, but Yahtzee's main complaints about the Witcher games were about its unintuitive user interface, lack of a proper tutorial and its unskippable cutscenes. In his own words:

Maybe not seeing it through invalidates my opinion, but I don't care. I'm just not having fun. I wouldn't check myself into Bedlam on the off-chance they serve ice cream for tea.

Then again, maybe his experience with Dark Souls has turned him on to the whole "it gets better much later in the game" argument.

Well, it's not like the Noble Hero won't be remembered. He gets the bards singing his praises about the great battle with the dragon. Now just to be sure, the town was ravaged by two different dragons, and each Hero killed one. That's how I looked at it.

I've never played a free to play game. I'm somewhat of a stickler when it comes to software that requires the internet to work or function. That includes DRM. I love my internet and although I have great speeds, I don't like needing it to get my software to work.

I don't think any of the Cynical Heroes 'funness' was actually a result of his cynical nature. Dragon bombing, parties and sex do not necessarily have much to do with a cynical outlook....

I was also hoping Yahtzee's would end with "they built a statue of the cynic hero because he fathered half the town." but both he and Jim had nice ones today.
