Jokes aren't funny if you have to explain them.
Metaphor isn't as trenchant if you have to say "Metaphor!" at the end.

I feel like Jim tipped his hand as to his true opinion of the relative intelligence of The Escapist viewers.

[Edit]
I neglected to add that I really enjoyed both segments and despite my criticism I loved Jim's metaphor. Well done.
If I now have to explain the joke of me saying metaphor to you, will it make it less funny?

Doesn't that leave both parties clueless, though? Let's say I were to champion the CoD dog to Jathzee(Someone slipped something in my drink in this scenario), neither of us would have any grounds to base our respective opinions off.
Its probably fanatics defending things from reviewers/ journalists of which Jim is one. so the reviewer has played or at least played a sample of the game while the fanatics has not
Ah, I see. I wasn't aware Jim did that kind of thing.
No it doesn't have to do with fanatics fan boys. Listen to the last verse; he didn't eat the cheese because it gives him stomach pains.

Probably this poem goes to Publishers (even console manufacturers).
Releasing a game , advertise it to you like it is the best game ever played, and while you are not able to see why, while you have tried it (cause of personal taste among other things), they are attacking you. And if you ask them "ok, why this was the best game for you?" they reply "To be honest I haven't even played it, because games are not my thing"

Faffing around on a horse in an open plain? I don't think that's really a complaint since it sounds a lot like another game that Yahtzee likes, a game that may include colossi and their shadows.

I took Jim's metaphor to be referring to Microsoft not understanding why people are so dissatisfied with the Xbox One reveal. Microsoft doesn't understand because they don't even like games, they just want to sell the thing that makes them the money.
Now its not.
Jim is a games reviewer for Destructoid. He has had his share of fanboy bashing for giving games a score that's lower than the fans expected and they decided to insult Jim over that without even having played the game.
It has nothing to do with developers or the XboxOne.

Just replace "Cheese" with "Call Of Duty" and "The Wanderer" with "a horde of deranged fanboys" and you'll get the metaphor.

I'm pretty upset about Stephen Russell not voicing Garrett as well, but surely his character is preserved in the writing as much as the voice acting? Also, the gameplay for Thief looks quite good, from the demos I've seen from E3, and although it's been kinda casualised with focus mode, at least that's optional. They've kept all the things that made the originals great- water arrows, rope arrows, light gem, expansive levels etc., I'm really excited for it, personally. Just an opinion, though!

I definitely liked Yahtzee's better this week. Sorry, I just love poetry that rhymes over those that dont. especially as this is called the "Rhymedown."

Jim's ending was just great though.
I agree. I think Yahtzee is a better poet, his work tends to have better flow.
Yahtzee's the more traditional, "classy" poet, favoring form and style, whereas Jim's a more bombastic and freestyle "modern" poet,(if that makes sense) but they both bring their A-game to this series.

I thought this would be good for two or three episodes, but you are going from strength to strength (apart from Jim's singing) - keep up the good work!

If you thought he said it because it needed to be explained, the failure here is on you, not on Jim. Everyone intelligent knew it was a metaphor the entire time he was saying it.

I supose it was about someone rigorously championing something (like a game or a console) she/he hasn't even tried yet and insulting people for not liking it, at it seems usual on forums.

More like fanboys in general who'll defend a game before its out.
Ahh, I see it now. Thanks guys!
I guess I didn't get Jim's poem because I was still laughing so hard from Yahtzee's spot-on limericks. Followed by the weird sideways limbo he did!

Yeah, I think someone needs to tell Yahtzee that he's the only one who gives that much of a shit abut the 'share' button thing. The whole being able to record and share game footage thing has been around for years, why does he feel it's an issue on par with Xbox One DRM?

Apart from that, great poetry as usual. I like how Yahtzee did the straight criticism while Jim went for the bizarre metaphor, since it's usually the other way around on this show.

Aside from the usual "this show is brilliant" which by now goes without saying, I like how you can go through these videos and watch Yahtzee become increasingly confident in front of the camera every week.

Man Yahtzee why'd you have to remind me? Poor Angelina, her cleavage will be missed.
