Looks good!

He doesn't start playing for about the 1st 1/2 of the video (its about an app instead).

Comes out in March.

I may have to get it. You? Any interest?

No interest really.

It's too big to actually be portable (something that would have peaked my interest) so that's not of much use to me and the Nintendo part makes me think "Here is our new Zelda/Mario/Metroid trifecta nothing else".

I mean, I'll still keep an eye on it because I have no problem being proven wrong but there's nothing that really interests me with what little information we have.

not really. people take ipads everywhere with them. why not this?
Well I don't so that doesn't really do me much good...

If it doesn't fit in my pocket, it's not portable to me.

doesn't mean you don't have the option of doing so

i dunno about you but i find ALOT of things don't fit in my pocket which is why i have a small backpack that i carry things i need around with me in and i imagine lots of other people carry bags with them too.

the only things i really keep in my pocket is my essentials being my phone wallet and house keys tbh.

oh and btw, i wouldn't say any of the Game Boys, PSP, Vita or DS & 3DS systems really fit in my pocket well either.....

My 3DS fits fine in my pocket (granted, it BARELY fits but barely fits still fits and I didn't buy a PSP/Vita for the same portability reason). The Switch wouldn't.

Every other person in the world might carry around a tiny backpack with them at all times so that they can carry around a Nintendo Switch and it wouldn't matter to me in the least; it's not small enough to fit in my pocket and therefore I have zero interest in it as a portable device.

i can make my 3DS fit in my pocket. but with also having my wallet, phone and keys in my pockets, that still ends up being one giant uncomfortable buldge in my pocket. you can do it. not really practical though since you can't really do it well with the exception of maybe a GBA micro. those tiny things could easily fit in my pocket.

the Switch doesn't interest you that's fine. but saying the system isn't very portable just isn't true.

I'm not interested in Nintendo IPs, so that's a NO off the get-go. But I don't want to push that subject too much, new consoles take a while to pile up a decent library and Nintendo seems to be in good third-party company this generation.

More to the point: the NS seems built around the gimmick that, oh my god, you don't have to stop playing just because you're leaving home. That's servicing a need I don't really have. My commutes are infreqeuent and not that long, and I'm not that rabid a gamer that I can't endure some time alone with my thoughts without sucking on an electronic handheld device for distraction. Most of my gaming is done at the end of the day, and that is that. So this novelty of "never stop playing" flies completely over my head.

the "never stop playing" factor is definitely a gimmick that doesn't mean much but personnally that isn't really the thing i really care too much about.

i'm personally a lot more interested in the fact that this thing is both a home console AND portable console. and what that means is that now i don't need to worry about buying two different Nintendo consoles anymore. the Switch will perform the same jobs that both my Wii U AND my 3DS do on just one machine.

and hey if i'm really into a game like Metroid for example i can take it on the go with me on the train and such whenever i'm out of the house if i feel like and keep playing there. and then when i come back home i can keep playing that same game in 1080p on my LCD tv screen.

I wouldn't mind getting one of these, but there have to be enough games on it that I want to justify the purchase. I'm not a big Mario or Zelda fan, so I guess it will be down to 3rd party games to hook me. Not Skyrim though, I already have it on PC.

actually that's another advantage the Switch will have over the 3DS and Wii U.

Since the unit is both a home console and a handheld console not only does it mean you can play the system both ways. it also means Nintendo should be able to merge both their handheld and console libraries and focus on developing for just one system now.

since all their 1st party stuff can just be developed for one system now rather than 2 it means there'll be much less or at least much shorter game droughts than what they've had in the past even if they don't get that 3rd party support their 1st party support would still effectively be doubled since their markets would be merged together now.

I lament that I did not get the 3DS as I hear it has a ton of RPGs, my favorite type of game. I'd love to see some aaa stuff on this.

And that is what will sell it. If it is just Wii U ports, I'll likely pass. I got a Wii U and other portable devices.

Thing looks really cool though.

The "portable" switch is just a little smaller than the Wii U tabtroller (conablet?). I'm not sure a lot of people will be seeing it as a replacement for their 3DS (The Switch is just a bit larger than the 3DSXL). While centralizing their mobile and console would be a smart move, 3DS games run at 800?240 resolution, while the Switch screen displays at 1080 while docked, and 720 when mobile. That kind of upscaling looks nasty.

Jimmy Fallon is so fake. Even if he's a real gamer, he really loves to exaggerate and kiss ass. I liked Craig Ferguson. He was much more sincere and naturally funny than most of these other hosts.
Craig Ferguson is my favorite too. If I ever become famous for any reason I'd only accept an invitation to his Late Night show. Too bad he doesn't host one anymore.

I sold My MM new 3DS for the Pokmon red and Blue New 3DS and people were asking me why would you do that, So my handheld fits in my pocket and the added Bonues is the face plates.

It was a big reason why I didn't upgrade to the "New 3DS as well"; fucking thing was so gigantic that it didn't fit in your damn pocket. If other people want to lug around a backpack to carry around their "portable" systems then so be it but I'm not going to do that.

Although I guess they have normal people sized "New 3DS's" now so I'll probably upgrade eventually (although even then, if this thing replaces the "New 3DS" as people are assuming then maybe I won't bother with it)...

You're alright, even with the beefed up power I was losing frames playing Pokemon sun and moon and Dragon quest 7. Its only towards the end do you lose frames in Dragon Quest 7, you lose frames in most battles that have more then 2 pokemon in Sun and Moon and its a big part of the game to fight more then one pokemon.

All of the games that are exclusive to the New 3DS library run on other system. Although Hyrule Warriors actually needs the New 3Ds's power to function properly from what I've Heard

it'll obviously have more than just Wii U ports.

but for at least the first year anyway it's likely the Switch will still get some of those enhanced port versions of things like Smash, Mario Kart and Splatoon to the system since they were the Wii U's better selling games and they want to sell those to as wide of an audience as possible.
