Thanks for mentioning Hard Reset, I had this game preordered as soon as it was available.
I've been slowly progressing through it on the Insane difficulty, and it is amazing how well thought is the positioning of every destructible in the world. I'm having a blast, literally.
The only issue I'm having with the game so far, is its sketchy gun switching system. Sometimes it feels like it was deliberately made the way it is, to limit your potential. The ability to bind weapons directly would've been amazing.
pretty much agree with you. but cant say im having a problem with the gun switching. its different, but no problem to handle it. at least the upgrades are useful. the shotgun is really handy so as the RPG. the electro shocker (not sure about the name now) which you can shoot on the ground and electrocutes everything in its radius, its really handy for hordes. i use it a lot.
i play it on normal and having really a good time with it. still not finished. i take my time and try to find every secret, unfortunately i never find them all. lol.
some claim about short game play time, but i have played more then 8 hours. could be im close to the end.
the levels are really beautiful designed. sometimes i just stand around and look around. especially when im outdoors and look up. reminds me so much of bladrunner (game and movie).
I died from switching to a wrong gun more times than anything else.
With all the upgrades you have exactly 10 different weapons, why not just make an option to select weapons directly with number keys and make that configurable?
For example:
1) Shoot Nebula Gravity Grenade using C.L.N. Grenade launcher's alternative fire to pull my enemies in a tighter pile.
2) Switch to N.R.G. and shoot that zapper grenade followed by a Python Stasis Grenade using same weapon's alternative fire mode.
3) Shoot few more zappers.
4) Switch to C.L.N. Assault Rifle or shotgun depending on the distance, to quickly finish off the stragglers after all zappers explode.
This is what I have to do in order to do this with default keys:
1) Q, 3, RMB
2) E, 3, LMB, RMB
3) LMBx3
4) E, 1 or 2(because it remembers the last gun mode), LMB
Now, if there was an option for direct binds it would eliminate 3 extra button presses and the whole system would be less confusing.
This possibly could be just me, being too attached to direct gun switching after all those years of playing Quake, Unreal Tournament and Serious Sam.
PS:
Are they planning to add more guns in the future?
