The next time, we will hear that new Wolfenstein game is advocating nazis, cause "LOOK, A NAZI! THE GAME WAS MADE BY HITLER!!!!111"...sometimes I just hate the First World Countries
What makes you think it would be any better in third-world countries? In places with very little education and high levels of religious indoctrination (as pretty much all third-world countries are), you'd get an even higher level of over-reaction, and the sight of a depiction that was controversial could result in an actual witch hunt and burning/lynching.

The thing is, you don't see that when it happens, as people in third world countries don't tend to use Twitter and other electronic media so much, and our news media doesn't report on other countries unless we are involved in a war there or something.

Y'know what annoys me most about that cover; the native dude is holding a grenade right? Y'know where the pin is? In the villians hand! Hes gonna be dead in 3 seconds time.

Never heard of this controversy before now.

Unrelated but I can't honestly see how the villain in the pink suit isn't white though, he looks exactly like a muscular Scandinavian. Maybe they're using that crazy definition where a tiny smidgen of non-European blood makes you non-white for some reason. At a stroke he could be half-Asian I guess.
Well, what is 'white' depends on the person doing the classification.

I'm native Finnish, and we consider ourselves white, but several gatekeepers of whiteness have informed me I look too Mongoloid to hang out in their white clubhouse.
I've actually just moved to Finland and I've realised there does seem to be a geographically anomolous "east Asian" influence going on (I assume you mean Mongolian as in being from Mongolia, and not the insult :( ). It's even stranger considering how long you were part of Sweden.

In my ignorance I'd always assumed Finland would be very scandinavian in appearance. My girlfriend is Finnish with a little Russian in there somewhere, but most people mistake her for being somewhere from east Asia. Before moving here, I always assumed she did in fact have some Asian in her somewhere, turns out, that's just how the Finns look. But yeah, like you say, white can actually be very diverse.

Yeah, the cover does look kinda racist. But you know what? That's okay. Because the guy on the cover is bloody obviously the villain and villains can be racists, sexists and all sorts of -ists. Because they are supposed to represent the thing we're fighting against and the worse the villain is, the better the hero is.

My first thought upon seeing a clearly villainous effeminate man in a pink suit was to go "Another evil gay man? Great."
Straight men can wear pink and be effeminate too! Stupid stereotyping.

Hell, in the 1980s, some of the biggest male sex symbols on TV wore pink in Miami Vice.

If only that it had stayed that way.

tumblr activisim is getting worse than the soccer mom activism... Before lawyers and parents who don't know anything about games used to go on and on about how bad the games are without knowing what's going on in them.

Now there's a new generation with legions of over-sensitive white people with some passing interest in games who knee-jerk, over-react without enough info and take to social media to vent their outrage.

It's very disheartening...

With many grenades, there's what is essentially a trigger. You hold onto the trigger after you pull the pin, and basically the countdown until the grenade detonates doesn't begin. So lets say that that particular grenade gives you five seconds to throw it. Once you loosen your grip on it so that you're no longer holding this "trigger" (I forget what its actually called) down, it begins.

You really should look into how most modern grenades work, the newer designs feature a handle that makes the grenade safe while squeezing it down, the grenade arms itself when this handle is released. The pin is a secondary safety measure.

As long as that guy keeps his hands together the grenade won't go off, it isn't completely "safe" but I doubt the villain cares...
So couldn't the guy just let go of the trigger and blow them both up? I mean he's going to die regardless so he might as well take the evil despot with him. It's still silly to be giving a guy standing right next to you for what is all intents and purposes a live grenade. Heck, he could let go of it and make a mad dash if he's feeling lucky.

Uh, because he was?

Because, you know, mentioning that Trayvon wasn't a saint anymore than Zimmerman is racist.
Not racist, but a completely irrelevant and stupid thing to say. Murder is still murder, even if the victim isn't a saint. I'm not sure where you are getting the idea from that it's OK to kill people if they have flaws. The law is supposed to protect all people.

And, only white people shoot black people.
Uh, who said that?

I'm joining the Ubisoft did no wrong crowd.

Since when does announcing a game by showing the potential cover art necessitate telling the whole story of the game?

Oh, right... since never.

He doesn't even look caucasian. He looks Singaporean to me... only with dyed hair.

Also, unrelated: why the fuck is my captcha an electronic cigarette ad? ISN'T ABOUT HALF THIS SITE'S USERBASE UNDER 18?? The fuck, Escapist?

Who the fuck thought that guy was the player character? Are you just plain high? A player character never smirks on the cover art, not even Nathan Dranke, the smirkiest character in video games. Everybody knows only bad people smirk on cover art.
This made me smirk.

I'd wear pink suits sometimes if I was a villain. See if anyone tries to crack a joke at my expense, y'know.

"I'm the least racist man ever...."
says the guy wearing black gloves standing at a podium with a massive red flag with a black and white symbol on it.

Now where have I seen that before? Oh yeah...

Now, I'm not saying Jim is Hitler, but .... actually no, Jim is clearly Hitler.

After all he keeps saying "thank god for me" and that is exactly the kinda thing Hitler would say.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that anyone could look at the dude in the pink suit and think he's white. Like really, do you not know how asian people look? Pro-tip, white people don't have epicanthic folds.
What about light-skinned Asians?

And what about the child of an Asian mother and a Caucasian father? What is that person's race? Can they not be described as white? What colour are we supposed to call "asian" skin, anyway - white, brown, yellow, black?

He looks more like an Albino then a Caucasian. Albino doesn't equal white. A person can have two black parents and still look like that if they have albinism gene. So they are pale as fuck, but they are not white.
How so? If your skin is pale, then it's usually called "white." Which is a different thing than "Caucasian."

Of course he is, but he's the best Hitler of all Hitlers. I think he deserves a special kind of salute.
