I could almost see tears running down the miniature face of Miniature Action Fantasy Willem Dafoe as Jim was closing in with the dragon dildo.

Sort of making the same point as the Dark Souls episode, but it's well made and from a different angle. Jolly good stuff.

Gosh that's a lovely dildo.

Damn Jim I damn near shed a tear after you named all the series that I loved being dragged through the dirt now.

I just got it last night via word of mouth then clocked six hours in it which makes seeing this kinda funny. I mean I know the comparison is tiresome and all but it is essentially the combination of l4d2 and borderlands 2 with most of the faults from both franchises removed and very few faults put in its stead. I don't think I've ever heard in-game voice chat done quite this good.

And that feeling of joy from your first successful no-alarm mission is truly priceless.

You did that just to ruin DuckTales, didn't you Jim?

On the main subject of the video, it's definitely good to see the devs do so well. Let's just hope that the same thing doesn't happen that did with the Dark Souls video, where From came out and said that it was "all or nothing" or something ridiculous like that.

Also, I've been meaning to pick up Payday 2, but alas, I can't due to those shortages you mentioned in the video. I'd also like to mention the competitive pricing as well, with some places selling it as low as £20 (half the cost of a game usually, for those of you outside of the UK). I think that has played a big part in the game's success as well.

That ending was brilliant, then I recognised the music, which just made it at least 10 times better.

Oh, and well done to the folks who made Payday. It's not really a series that's one my radar, but it's heartening to see a game that is just doing what it's developers fans want instead of just pandering to some mythical potential userbase (that will never materialise) and coming out better off for it.

Well, thanks for either ruining the Ducktales theme or taking the appreciation for it to new heights, Jim. Not sure yet.

Wait, you can make money by making a good game that DOESN'T use the most cutting-edge graphics, sound, animation and engine there is? ARE YOU LISTENING, TRIPLE-A DEVELOPERS?

PD2 doesn't appeal to me, but that's the great thing about games with reasonable development and marketing budgets, made to appeal to their audience with game play quality and find that audience through word of mouth - they don't need to appeal to everyone to be successful. That kind of philosophy leads to more games appealing to more varied tastes, so there's more games appealing to any player, even if individual games don't try to appeal to every player.

Whoever said that Sterling was a ****** wasn't wrong. He is a ******; a wonderful amazing ****** right up there with Freddie Mercury, Sir Ian McKellen and Neil Patrick Harris.

Good for Overkill. Payday (2) isn't my type of game, but it's good that they're successful in this age of bullshit games. Now, if only a developer would do the same when making a Character Playing Game.

Yes, I made that term up. Why? Because when I say RPG, most gamers who call themselves RPGers are more interested in games that involve min-maxing character statistics and turn-based, virtual dice-rolling strategy. And they think that Baldur's Gate was the peak of the genre. Whereas I prefer the ones that have more focus on ROLE PLAYING. As in being able to flesh out a character and display different personalities based on low-impact conversation choices. Seen in games like Mass Effect, TOR, and Dragon Age 2. Point is this: RPG is too ambiguous a term, and I'd like the success of Payday 2 to inspire some brave, independent developer to make a good CPG instead of yet another nostalgia-driven isometric. And hopefully I'm not alone in that desire.

One more thing I have to say.

GTA comes out, and the media swarms over it being a horrible game for your kids.
Mass Effect is released and the media swarms over it being a Sex Porno Game that will corrupt your kids.
Modern Warfare is out and the Media blames various murders on kids playing the game.
Payday 2 comes out,a game LITERALLY ABOUT ROBBING BANKS...........and I haven't heard a single thing about the media going all over it for influencing our kids and making them want to rob banks in real life.

Is it bad that I am just waiting... EXPECTING... for the media to turn on Payday 2 in such a way?
We probably won't see anything as Overkill didn't spends millions marketing this. The mainstream media probably has no idea this game exist.

Thanks for the dildo Jim, but next time, don't do it. If we can't behave ourselves and you still reward us,we'll never learn. Worse, we'll become even more entitled.
Looks like we've found a (temporary) solution to the mass media problem then: Leave the advertising to itself and the internet.

Great video, glad to see that some devs actually communicate with their fans to give what they want in a sequel.

But seriously man... my mind can't take two cringe worthy events in one day, first Cyrus' VMA perfomance now this? how am I supposed to sleep tonight? Also I'm slightly disappointed in the dildo, its more tame than I thought it would be, when you said Bad Dragon I expected some towering and jagged behemoth that only HKJ would be able to take.

It's ironic that a game I applaud for shaming a corporate money-grubbing mentality because it succeeded on morally-superior indy development mentality is not going to get my purchase because I'm ashamed to see anyone playing a game about being part of a team of money-grubbing assholes who are so morally unreprehensible that they think nothing of gunning down innocents (and each other) in order to score a quick buck by performing a bank heist.

Even if it's "just pretend," this setting puts me in a moral crisis that was really unnecessary. I really want to encourage the former behavior of indy development without corporate fuckery, because I've been enduring decades of crappy games as a result. However, the backdrop of this game is so severely off the hook that I still won't vote for my wallet for it.

As for that last bit, I admire your follow through with the dragon dildo, Jim, but I do hope you remembered the lube.

I am now waiting for the Payday 3 announcement where they will attempt to reach a "wider audience" by designing the game to be more "accessible" and incorporate elements that attract different types of people.

You know it's just guaranteed to happen. It happened with Metro 3, where they gave you the same announcement. It happened with both X-com's (which was a damned shame in the places where it dropped the ball). It will happen with every game you enjoy that exists long enough to get greedy.
