They used to be called EB Games here in the U.S., but they changed them all to GameStop many years ago.
That doesn't change the name of E.B Games in Australia, nor that it's owned by Americans. Why would you call it by a different name than what its owners name it?

Its funny. Since that one Nintendo fanboy is no where to be seen, I feel more sympathy towards Nintendo.

I'm just gonna keep being a PC gamer. It's hard not to take "PC gamer master race" slightly seriously when the PC is above and beyond all this next-gen competition crap.
Yeah, I'm voting for my new computer as best launch this year. I think the closest PC got into the next-gen fight was when Nvidia made a silly comment about how much more powerful the Titan was than a PS4. Was a cheap shot, but other than that I haven't seen any fanboy rants about GPUs.

The next phase of the console war has begun, but with the PS4 and Xbox One now out in the wild, the first battle is over. So who won? Jimquisition looks at the contenders, and crowns an early victor.

Watch Video
it Jimothy, that nearly made me want to gt a WiiU. Stop it now.

Ninntendo had to spend six months convincing people that their new console was a new console and not just an add-on - we had tons of people returning Wii U games because they didn't work on the Wii - and a year on from launch there's still scant few people who care. That is categorical failure on every level. Yes, hardcore gaming fans knew that the Wii U was a new thing, but the Wii U has had negligible interest in hardcore gaming fans.

And even now the argument is still about slamming the 180 and PS4 for just making incremental increases and sequels to existing properties, while praising Nintendo for farting out yet another Mario game and watching as everyone says "just wait for the new Super Mario Universe / Zelda Link To The Multiverse / Super Smash Bros Rumble / any other rehash". A year on from launch, the Wii U still doesn't have a system selling title to its name.

Best launch? Obviously I need to wait until they're all done (after Friday), but on current evidence there's more buzz about the PS4 than anything else.

I respect your opinion, as I try not to get too emotionally involved in console debates, but there is one thing about your video that made me raise my eyebrow a bit.

You criticize the PS4 and Xbox1 for having nothing to their name except extentions of franchises established by earlier generations...

... then talk about how much fun you have with a mario game.

Eh, whatever, I'll end up getting a wii-u at some point. Probably once I know more about SMT vs. Fire Emblem.

Meh, I dunno, I'm having fun exploring the XBone.

And screw that, MS tried to mix things up, everyone bitched.

Not all mario games play the same, it's why he can be used.
Heck it's why he's still popular most diverse line up from a single gaming franchise I've ever seen and all of them are fun.
Killzone and others like it? Pretty much the same even if decent.

Shouldn't we be comparing the actual Wii U launch with the PS4/One launch and not "the Wii U one year after launch"?

Well, it'd have helped if they had tried to mix things up in ways that aren't consumer unfriendly.

And that's too bad really. They have a lot of wonderful games on them and many gamers overlook them entirely because "muh graphicks" and the word handheld. Not that I'm disappointed they're spared from the stupid console wars.
I personally have no problem with leaving them as a separate entity, though. I mean, I have a Vita and a 3DS, as well as two working versions of a DS and one cracked one. I loves me my handhelds and I love the games, but they really are designed for different things and I have no problem comparing them to themselves, rather than the console market.

I mean, people who are derisive about them for not being consoles just come off as snobbish, but then, that's nothing new in our games.

Can you play as Peach? I have a bad feeling what Peach's cat outfit might look like...
Now now, we don't want to get into gender politics....

He's right though. Jim should have known better than to lick an Ouya, ever. No matter how much he sanitized it beforehand.
Well yeah, but in Jim's defense, it's the first major console of its type. I mean, before that you could only get that sort of crap at the discount portion of malls and TV adverts.

No, I've watched it from the start. I clearly just don't pay enough attention to certain points! :D
Oh, well....Fair enough. No offense, anyway. I was just curious because this came as no surprise to me at all.

And again, it's not a bad thing. Just a predictable one. Like Yahtzee mocking Nintendo. >.>

I believe the real answer is no one except the people who stood to make money on this.

If you have the money to buy a new console or upgrade your PC and get the games available for them then just enjoy them. Console and PC can't compare, they aren't supposed to. They are two different formats entirely. If you can't do that, enjoy what you have already. Just enjoy your hobby, however you can get it.

PC'S THE BEST CONSOLE!

If you have a nice graphics card....
And enough RAM....
And a fast enough processor....
And a stable enough internet connection.....
And a etc etc etc.......

I do like playing on the PC, but really just not enough money/patience/experience to make it a better experience than a console. Say really saying PC is the best experience is a pretty relative thing.
And the AAA developers are nice enough to port the games over....

I've got to say, though, you don't need excellent graphics cards or super amounts of RAM to see an improvement over consoles.

Case in point: Carl's Jr. also operates under the name Hardees depending region: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl%27s_Jr.
Right. And that doesn't make the name of those trading as "Hardees" anything other than "Hardees."

EBGames/Gamespot is the same situation.
Excatly. So why would you call them anything other than what they are actually called?

I know of the three consoles the WiiU is the only one I'm even slightly interested in.

Does anyone else think handhelds are being unfairly excluded from this console war shenanigans?
'cause I'm pretty sure the 3DS has the best library out of the current gen systems right now.
Where you say "unfairly excluded" I say "mercifully spared."
So do I. The last thing handhelds need is to be subjected to that asinine bullshit.

The only loser is generally the consumer.
