Best of good luck to you in finding one. Some good, sound advice from several people. As they say, sometimes just finding a job is a full time job in and of itself. It is a pain in the butt, so hopefully things will pay off with persistence and optimism.

I know you won't want to hear it, but know who's not feeling many effects of the recession at all right now?

Gamestop.

Wait wait, calm down. Many of the stores will definitely be hiring for holiday help soon, and believe me, if you just put in a miniscule amount of effort to not be a douchebag, you will in all likelihood distinguish yourself and be asked to stay on after the holidays.

Not ideal, i know. But work is work.

Make sure your parents have connections and then no matter how stupid or incompetent you are you will be given a decent job somewhere.

Failing that, you could try being very lucky. Try sucking up some idiot who has a descent job and try to get him to employ you.

Accident of birth or a lucky break is the only way to get anywhere in this world (people who say it is with hard work are either liars or too dumb to see the truth).

I'm in the same boat too, only I have no university qualifications, so I'm even more fucked.
I have money to last me a while, but so far job hunting has proved frutrating and seemingly futile.

Oh yes, my friend, oh for the love of god yes.

Except I've been job hunting since June, when I was unexpectedly fired for working too hard and apparently being a 'threat' to a manager's position. The ***** actually got me fired. Because she feared I would take her place.

So.... anyone else in this boat?

I've been job hunting for about a month now, barely hearing back from any applications and rejection where I do. As a graduate from a top uni I honestly never expected it to be this way, having grown up after the 90's recession and been constantly told that great jobs would be available with a few good qualifications. I'm moving into a new flat in a few weeks and can only cover a few months rent, if something doesn't come up soon there will be problems.

Instead there is nothing. Its hard to descrbe the kind of frustration it gives you. It strikes me as ludicrous that someone keen to work and willing to do pretty much any job is so largely ignored, yet its happening all across the world. The worst part is feeling ignored though. Most people won't get back to your application, practically no one will give feed back to help you improve applications leaving a horrid sense of futility.

Anyone else want to vent?
...or help plan the revolution?
Living in a relatively small town I can sympathise. And yet because I'm 17, it must be because I'm lazy. I am, to be fair, but there just aren't any jobs anyway.
