Comedy Central has named John Stewart's successor. After Stewart announced his plans to leave the show (eventually) back in February folks have been speculating on who will replace the long time Daily Show host.

Well speculate no more, the new host of the Daily Show will be:

[HEADING=1]Trevor Noah[/HEADING]

For those unfamiliar with Noah, the South African stand up comedian has appeared on the Daily Show three times, including this bit relating to police brutality

I'm personally pleased with this selection, I found him a while back looking for some new stand up, and it cool to see him getting this opportunity, and I think his perspective of being a South African rather than American will offer a different perspective and I'm interested to see how he develops his own identity stepping into some of the biggest set of shoes in comedy. What about all you fine folks, how do you feel about this news.

Damn, ninja'd.

This came a a surprise to me, as I figured a corespondent with seniority on the show would have gotten it. However, Jason Jones announced he was leaving recently, and I could have sworn that Aasif Mandvi had left the show as well. Jessica Williams looked to be a strong runner for the chair, and I thought that Jordan Klepper would have been a good choice as well. I don't really know how too feel about Noah's appointment, as he has hardly been on the show. But, good for him.

I personally expected Jessica Williams, but I didn't think her style of humor translated as well to the behind the desk role. Honestly, every time I saw Noah I was like "Damn, I want to see more of this guy", and I think that he's going to do super well in his new position.

I'm actually glad it is somewhat of an outsider, I think it will help the show develop a new identity rather than having vestiges of the old show.

Who?

To the Youtubes!

Heh, okay, this guy is pretty funny.

Love his voice too. That accent. I want one.

Still, them be some mighty large boots to be filling.

Jessica Williams is great, but I agree that she would make kind of a weird host.

Going to be interesting seeing these two play off each other during her segments though.

After Jason Jones left Trevor was the only person I could think of to take Jon's place. He's the only one who really seems charismatic and funny enough to fill the role. How good he'll be as host is yet to be seen, but I'm willing to give the guy a chance.

Good choice. I like him. I like his vibe and have seen his act before. It may take some time for him to get into the theme of the show but he will be ready. Just keep bashing CNN and show how much Fox loves to go down on themselves a lot because they are hypocrites and he will be fine.

Jessica has stated herself that she isn't currently the right person to host the show.[footnote]http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/17/jessica-williams-not-host-daily-show_n_6697640.html[/footnote] Otherwise, I would agree with you two.

OT: I'm really excited to see what Trevor brings to the position. His style of humour is very different to Jon's, and that is a good thing.

Yeah sure, why not?
I look forward to Fox News flipping their shit for the next 15 years when a well spoken and educated African man talks down to them.

Jessica Williams has absolutely no talent whatsoever, and certainly not enough to replace Jon Stewart.

This guy though I like. Fantastic accent. Understated delivery. He might bring the show back up a level in class and distinction.

I have no idea who this guy is.. but if he's as funny as they say, eh, why not? Besides, I'm always up for some new comedy... to Youtube!

All I can say is... Congratulations, Trevor. He's only been on the show, what? Three times? And, he didn't exactly set the world on fire. Hell, I'm sure Brian Williams has been on the Daily Show more times and has way more experience with fake news.

However, their current crop of "reporters" are insufferable. Well, except for Jessica Williams, which who is ok in small doses.

How I feel about Trevor can be summed up in this one gif:

Other than that, the wait continues to see how this will all play out in the end...

Not a fan of the Daily show so I can't say I care too much about the whole thing.

On the other hand having Stewart named as the successor for the Late show is both a disappointment and a good thing. As I hate Letterman with a burning passion but John Stewart is a great replacement. I just wish they'd made it Craig Ferguson, because I think he's even funnier and a nicer guy over all.

Stephen Colbert is the one taking over Letterman's spot, not Jon Stewart.

Oh, my bad then. The late show just became a total disappointment.
