In the early part of the 1920's a fishing vessel crashed onto a previously undiscovered island in the Atlantic Ocean. Trapped, the fishermen sent one of their number in the last undamaged lifeboat to find help. While the fisherman in the lifeboat was rescued a few days later by a passing whaler, when the ship and the rescued man returned to the island, they found no trace of the crew. All they found were some ruined structures, and an ominous tunnel leading under the island that no man dare enter. Hearing of this mystery, a group of philanthropists interested in archeology, sent a team led by Johnny Grey, the greatest explorer of the day into the tunnel to see what lay below.

Short Bio: A hero of World War 1, Johnny Grey quickly became a famed explorer after the war, going places no one else would and finding undiscovered places. Most famous for discovering a lost Incan city in South America and defeating the cursed mummies found there.

Short Bio: A WW1 doctor Suzy was in the same band as Johnny, she didn't get respect in the army, but saved many lives. She was abused by her male comrades(not physically or sexually) for being a woman and the only one who didn't bother her was Johnny. They became friends and she joined this adventure with Johnny because she hopes to bond with him and become more than just friends.

After meeting Grey in America she was extremely interested when he got in contact about a new expedition.

"Here we are, ladies and gents" Captain Stevens said to the assembled group of explorers. "This is the island." Johnny looked at the island, it was a barren, rocky piece of land, the shoreline looking like shark's teeth jutting out of the water. "How will we get to shore?" Johnny asked, "I doubt that the ship can land on the shore." "I'm already ahead of you Lad." Stevens replied. "My first mate, Smith here, will take you to shore in one of the lifeboats and bring you back when you all are finished."

The 9 explorers plus the first mate piled themselves and their gear into the lifeboat and rowed to shore. Johnny had gotten clear instructions from his sponsors, explore whatever the tunnel led to and try to find the missing sailors. The boat landed on the shore and the group scrambled up the rocky coast to the ruined structures. "I've never seen anything like this." Johnny said to himself. "It looks vaguely Egyptian, but there are Aztec influences, and symbols I haven't seen anywhere."

The group made their way to the opening to the tunnel, covered by a metal door. Johnny opened the door and led the team inside, holding a torch aloft. The tunnel stretched deep underground. Johnny and the team made their way down the tunnel and stopped when they came to a fork in the path. "Maybe we should go out and make camp and explore more tomorrow." Johnny said. "No way" Smith replied. "I'm keeping going." Smith started running down the left-hand path. "No!" Johnny yelled. "Stay with the group." Smith was gone though. A minute later the group heard a piercing scream. "Damn!" Johnny swore and followed the path. Going down the path, weapons in hand, the group found a pool of blood, but no trace of the first mate. Shaken, Johnny led the group back toward the mouth of the tunnel.

"What happened to Smith?" Someone asked Johnny. "I don't know" Johnny replied grimly. "It's like he disappeared, but we should go outside and set camp before we go further, we were too hasty coming in." The group followed the tunnel to where they had come in, but found no door where the door had previously been. "Did we go the wrong way?" Someone asked.
"No" Johnny said. "We might as well unpack our things here, as I don't think we can leave the way we came." Johnny squared his jaw. "Unpack and rest, but keep alert, once we're ready, we'll have to push forward and hope that we can find another way out."

Objectives: Talk among yourselves and prepare to go deeper into the tunnel.

"Oh my god!! What could have possible done that to Smith?" Suzy stared at the puddle of blood, "We had better be on our guards!"

Garion looked around noting how nervous everyone was. bunch at weak people. HE thought

"I will take first watch since it seems like everyone here is spooked about a single death."

Garion walked down the Tunnel a little way and set up a small camp without a fire. Then he pulled out one of his guns and started cleaning it.

Suzy grunted at Garion, just the kind of man she dealt with in the army. His large gun made up for the lack of personality. She would gladly not take the first watch, she much preferred sleeping over sitting and playing with a gun.

"We shouldn't be scared, but we should be wary" Johnny said. "Smith disappeared pretty damn quick, faster then a normal predator could get him. Coupled with the fact that the door seems to have magically disappeared, we could be dealing with some kind of edritch creature." Johnny looked grim. "We have enough food and water for about a week, and judging by the damp, there could be additional water here, but in order to survive, we'll need to find another exit and that means we will probably run into the creature, or creatures that got Smith. As well as creatures, in my experience, ruins such as there are usually guarded by traps and snares. We would do well to be cautious."

Hazel strode up to the unmarked wall where the door had been before and started scratching a chain of complex signals into it with the tip of her knife.

"This happened recently", she said. "Must be some kind of polymorphic architecture, I hear it's fairly common in places with some sort of paranormal significance to them. In light of what happened to the recently deceased Smith I expect these caves are designed or so minded as to trap us here to be killed one by one"

"You got all that from some scratchings on a wall?" said one of the burly mercenaries squatting nearby.

"Well partly that. Also, it's still warm" she said, turning her palms upwards and showing the slight blistering on her fingertips.
