"That we are, Sir Alden. If there is anything you can tell us that may help us, it would be greatly appreciated."

He nodded and spoke solemnly "You seek the keep I am sure, there is still some old scraps of knowledge there though I doubt your rite still lies there," he said "currently a bishop of Carim by the name of Edwin has made residence there, I know him well though he only came to this land some few years ago, and if you meet him mention my name and I am certain he will treat you kindly."

He turned toward the keep, tilting his head back to see the top of its walls, and to better hear the clamor that could be heard coming from around it "Sadly I am afraid your journey will be made more difficult by the hollows laying siege to the keep, I know a pyromancer with a burned arm leads them though I do not know how he controls them."

He turned back to the group "Sadly I cannot help you much with the mob, as I have my own quest to attend to, though I will try and lure as many away as I can and if I see the pyromancer I will endeavor to strike him down," he said somewhat regretfully "Edwin will have the keep well defended with his magic, and what remains of its original defenses, though I cannot say how long they may hold out for."

Marcus was busy gathering his weapons that laid scattered throughout the area when Alden arrived. Walking back and forth gathering his things, he turned and observed silently at the knight named Alden as he spoke, while breathing rather heavily. His battle with the spirit made him tired, and his concern was neither with the new knight but with his pet. He walked off and sat down near some of the church rubble. He tried to keep attention to what the knight Alden was saying but his thoughts began to step in. Thoughts of doubt filled his mind and it was worsened by his failure to protect his pet bird. He felt weak, pathetic even, and being tired wasn't helping. He decided to lay back against the rubble and started to sleep off the battle, as the group conversed with Alden.

"Edwin will have the keep well defended with his magic, and what remains of its original defenses, though I cannot say how long they may hold out for."

"Then it would seem that time is of the essence. Take a few minutes to gather yourselves. We head out in five minutes. Even if the Rite is no longer there that keep is still our only lead." Travis began to make his way back to the church. He paused as he came by Rang briefly putting a hand on his shoulder as he commended him, "Good work Rang." He continued on and came to his horse's side. He freed the halberd from it's place and put his shield on his back, wielding the polearm with two hands. Electing to move through the town on foot, Travis instructed Sue to follow him and stay among the group, and then waited for the others to finish their preparations.

Avina had been the only one to pay attention to what he had said, and had taken the chance to take the humanity and the souls for herself. Rang wasn't going to judge her for that, from the looks of it she hadn't really known what they were, and he hadn't taken the chance himself, so he couldn't complain. He was about to ask if they were going to continue, or stutter some words resembling a question, when another unknown person arrived. Rang stood up, and gripped his staff, ready to act if something should happen.

"Greetings, I felt the presence of that phantom, was it you who slew him? I am Alden, knight of Astora, by what names do you each go by?".

"I-I'm Rang."

While the others seemed to have the given name, their birthplaces, and perhaps even a surname or a title, however, Rang had nothing of the sorts. Before, he sometimes had added traveler to the end of his name, but now they all were travelers, so that would be stating the obvious. Besides, this meant he had to say less. Some of the others were talking to the knight, but Rang chose to stay quiet, and instead take the chance to look for anything that might come off as weird or wrong about the knight. Travis told everyone that they would be heading out very soon, and Rang agreed with that leaving sooner than later would be smart.

It's not like we need much rest. And staying might become dangerous.

"Good work Rang."

Travis said, having put a hand for a short while on his shoulder. Rang had tensed up from the sudden approach and pat on the shoulder, but after a short while he nodded. A lot. His eyes were kept on the ground, and he instinctively took steps away from the group, wanting to be somewhere...well, not quite as close to people as he was. He decided to prepare himself for heading out, which was basically just making sure his items were okay.

Avina jumped when the knight introduced himself. Her hand flew to her blade. She relaxed however when he didn't do more than introduce himself.

"Greetings, I felt the presence of that phantom, was it you who slew him? I am Alden, Knight of Astora, by what names do you each go by?"

Avina stayed quiet as the others introduced themselves. She studied Alden, searching for any signs of hostility he may be hiding. She had tuned out any trace of the conversation, until she heard him describing the forces assaulting the keep.

'Sadly I am afraid your journey will be made more difficult by the hollows laying siege to the keep, I know a pyromancer with a burned arm leads them though I do not know how he controls them." She snapped back to reality at that point.

"A Pyromancer? Here?" She asked not mentioning her name. "And with a burnt arm? That's not good....not good at all." She muttered her mind beginning to search back for the stories her tribe told. Few pyromancers burnt themselves, and if they did it was either very early in their life, or when they experimented with highly advanced pyromancies that few beyond The Great Salaman had even learned of. Or ones beyond even that. "Which arm was it Sir Knight? Do you know?" She asked. Hopefully she was over thinking things.

"Which arm was it Sir Knight? Do you know?"

"It was his left arm I believe, he may have been missing a few fingers on it as well though that is only a guess," Alden replied, "I only saw him at a distance through binoculars, but I believe he kept his flame in the burned hand, he held a long metal pole with a lantern on it in the other."

He paused for a moment and looked Avina over, it was impossible to tell what his expression was behind the helmet but he seemed to be considering something. He shook his head and then spoke again, his tone concerned and curious.

"Forgive me if I am wrong but by your dress I assume you too are a pyromancer of the great swamp? The man I saw was dressed similarly to yourself though his clothes seemed more worn and burned in places," he said "Do you think you know of him?"

If you want to invent a story or something that Avina knows about the pyromancer go ahead, though it might not turn out to be true, depends on how much I like the story and how well it fits into my current plans

Avian shook her head. "I do not know whom this pyromancer is Sir Knight. But I may know why his arm is burned, which in turn may be very bad if we need to stand against him, even with out the Hollows at his command." She lowered her hood, the dirt and soot that clung to her face in death marred and running from sweat. "As you guessed I am of the Great Swamp, Avina." She said with a nod. "And all pyromancers are given three warnings when they begin to channel the Flame."

She held up a finger. "One that the Flame is a representation of the soul, and that it should never be disrespected. Two," She held up a second finger. "That we should only take on pyromancies that we are strong enough to handle, one's that burn too far, too bright, or too strong will not lead us to better understanding of nature only to ash. And three," She held up a third. "That no pyromancer can wield the powers of Chaos and keep their sanity." She shuddered at the thought. The temptation to search for those had always been great, but a combination of fear and her mother had been enough to keep it in check. "And by your description, this other pyromancer may have broken at least one if not all three." She looked to Travis. "If we find ourselves face to face with this man I suggest we stay on his good side if possible."

Yeah I decided to forgo the connection between Avian and the mysterious pyromancer. I have other ideas with out throwing in family disputes or lover's spats or something of the sort.
