Honorary White Robe reporting for duty :D

It's a brilliant game and probably has the best use of music I've ever heard in a game. I don't even think the experience would be half as good without that soundtrack.

Yup got journey and loved it I dont think I got so emotionally attached to it as some of you though and I didnt exactly go out of my way to help fellow travellers (I preferred solitude) but I did really enjoy the experience and will be replaying it a few times as for the ending what I took from it was this

[spoiler/]the destination isnt as important as the journey dont get so fixated on reaching your intended point that you lose sight of all the wondrous things around you and as for the people you meet treasure their companionship for as long as it lasts incase you never meet again.

As for the harsh settings I took it as showing adversities faced on your trip and the wondrous things that happen if you push on the heights you can scale if you dont give up. I choose to believe at the end you are reincarnated and set out again showing that the end destination is really just the start again tying in with the journey being the most important part while the shooting star at the end was a nice touch I believe some people used to see them as souls or omens of prominence and gives me the impression of life being fleeting and yet eternal.

I particularly liked that the game being set in desert (sand then snow) and its length (took me just over an hour) tie in with the famous excerpt from william Blake

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

In fact I think this passage is a great fit for the game.[/spoiler]

sorry if I wasnt completely coherent there I just quickly wrote down what conclusions I drew from the ending and the game.
Funny, that's one of the poems we discussed in my english class not too long ago. When you put it that way, yes, it is a great fit for the game. :)

You know, people complaining about a good game being a PS3 exclusive really doesn't bode well for Sony. Thanks for being supportive, folks.
Who exactly are they not being supportive of and why should they?

Why would anyone support platform exclusives bullshit over spreading the joy? Y'know, except the crazy console fanboys who type "PS3 is shit, Xbox forever!!" in youtube comments.

I had a similar thing happen with one of the sliding levels, but from the opposite perspective.

I was taking my time swooping back and forth and generally having a good time. By the time I realised that my companion had gone zipping down at full speed I was way behind with no chance of catching up. Since he had consistently been going for the objectives in a direct sort of way, I assumed he would head straight for the white statue and continue on.

However, once I finally reached the bottom, there he was perched on a ledge and looking back up the slide, quite clearly waiting for me. I was rather touched.

I ended up going through the entire game - start to finish- with that one person, which made it all the better.
That's awesome! I spent a good amount of time traveling by myself. Never knowing when I'd see my next traveling buddy.

Was during that 'Dark' level. Looked like you were running through tombs or something, it was all dark and blue.

I was entirely by myself in this level at the start, but I eventually did find someone....

After running forward into the darkness for some time. I heard a very strange noise.

Then, in the air, out of the darkness, I saw something flying backwards whilst spinning and on fire! It crashed into the ground shortly in front of me, so I ran forward and to my surprise, it was another traveler.

I thought: "lol what the hell happened to you, bro?" I was going to keep moving forward, but the traveler just kinda... went straight towards a pillar and stood behind it.

He wasn't afk, because he was singing while standing there. So I said "hmm well I guess I'll have a look around then."

What's that light sweeping across the ground?

Why did it just lock on to me?

Why did it turn red?

What was that noise?

Why is that flying stone cylops-centipede careening towards me? OH SHIT!

So, got turned into a ball of fire and after crashing to the ground from being launched several stories up into the air, I realized now that my newfound traveling companion was trying to WARN me!

The guy was safe and sound behind the pillar the entire time. No doubt must've been amused by the sight of me ignorantly blundering straight into that construct and getting my ass kicked. He ran right up to me after that flying fucker disappeared and we continued the level together.

Very carefully.

It's depicted in those tapestry things that you activate in the world or see in the visions at the end of each level.

The cloaked Jawa guys built the city by turning the cloth creatures into an energy source. When the the supply started to run out there was a war over the remaining creatures. Those huge stone constructs were used as weapons/battle beasts.

But after that it starts getting confusing. Eventually it loops around and starts showing your own journey.
Interesting. I'll have to play through the game again this weekend and see if I can make any sense of that. I just didn't understand what I was looking at during those cutscenes until they began showing the journey I was on.

For those of you who don't know what game I'm talking about, have a trailer:

Right then, I will now proceed to gush.

Holy Christ in cream cheese sauce, this game is fucking fantastic.

It sounds great, looks utterly gorgeous and features some supremely elegant design. It has the most interesting take on multiplayer I've seen in years. Crucially, the game manages to include it while keeping the Ico-esque atmosphere and ambiance of the game intact [http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2012/03/19].

Having another chic little Jawa along for the trip makes a surprising difference. I don't know how exactly, but you end up getting surprisingly attached to your trail companion [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/9493-Journey]. The minimal communication allows for some nice shared moments. On one occasion I couldn't figure out how to make a particular jump. The other player spent a good five minutes demonstrating it to me with admirable patience.

Oh, and the ending. Wow. A not-insignificant part of me wishes to slap myself across the face until I am cured of the urge to use phrases like "emotional experience", but, well... it kinda was.

Also, there was a singing whale made of living fabric. That was cool.

...

Lastly, a question for those who have already finished it:
What exactly was going on with the ending? As much as I loved it, I didn't quite understand it. My little traveller dies in the snow, gets resurrected(?), gets to the mountain's peak and is somehow returned to the desert, presumably to guide others.

All fine and dandy, but how does that tie into the little backstory with the civil war and whatnot? Also, where do the travellers come from? Are they just survivors?
Journey spoilers:

Civil war? Travellers? What?

I didnt get any of that. I saw a people, in some trouble or another, sending out/wishing for some person to revive them.

I traveled, and finally got to the mountain. Maybe died, maybe didnt. Probably did, considering the visions in the end could be interpreted as someone freezing to death hallucinating.

Then I was shot back to the start, pointing to the red line I walked beside the entire game, the ending doesnt matter. Enjoy the Journey.

The ending could mean anything and nothing. And in this game, thats completely OK.

That said, I'm not such a hallelujah fan of this game as some people. It was entirely beautiful, and I'm pleased it wasnt longer. Not sure it could have pulled of the length, the story/milieu was presented PERFECTLY. For anyone wanting to tell a story with no words, they should take note how to do it. However, the purpose of the game is apparent even in the title, so its not exactly a revelation :)

PS3 exclusive? Bah. BAH. I will hand wave it with an air of sneering indifference, until it gets ported to the PC, at which point I will lavish it with praise and scorn its detractors.

I read about it and wasn't impressed.

I watched clips of it and wasn't impressed.

I played it.......

I take back any bad thoughts I had about it. The game is so simple it just shouldn't work, but it does work and it works really well.

It didn't make me want to jizz in my pants but it was quite enjoyable.

Loved it so much. I wish there was a place to leave messages for the people you played with. The white cloak who helped me this morning was awesome!

The first time I played, my companion and I stuck together the whole time. When we completed the first bridge and ran over it together it really was breathtaking. The entire thing was not at all an experience I expected from a game.

Oh and I love the Journey vs Journey video.

If exclusive titles didn't exist, what would be the point of individual consoles? Sony is making an effort for the PS3 to stand out so that people will buy it. I don't see why you would whine about this. Its not like the PS3 costs an arm and a leg anymore.
This attitude puzzles me. Why does there need to be a "point"? We have individual consoles, but there's no point to them? So... we need exclusives to give them an excuse to exist?

Whut?

Call me crazy, but couldn't consoles sell on the features of, y'know... the actual console?

Lastly, I still don't see why people should be "supportive" of console exclusives. They don't help us in the slightest.
