It has been a while since I played it but I seem to remember Mitsuru from persona 3 annoying the hell out of me not because of her character but because she never did what I wanted her to but I cant remember what exactly, I seem to have repressed that memory.

Gotta love Persona 3's A.I.

On the subject of Persona 3, Fucking Fukka.

That voice is just so annoying and her ability to state the obvious is astounding.

All three main characters in Final Fantasy X-2. Really, I could kill EVERYONE involved in that shitty game (especially Brother), but since those three are ALWAYS in the game, they're the most annoying. I'd like to push them all into a vat of acid.

Also, does Zubat count as a character? Cause I'd like to get rid of him, too. Best part of Black and White? No Zubat, baby.

Tear from Tales of The Abyss

Not just because she was annoying, not just because I didn't like her VA and not even just because i friggen' hated her attitude.

No, It's because in the game, she's a a Mary Sue. Full Stop. She's never wrong, never called out on her being a hypocrite and basically just comes across as the infallible person that can never be painted in a bad light.

Sephiroth, because i hate him,
Cloud and every other 'broody' hero can fuck right off to (including Vincent) >.> on second though, every body in FF7 can vanish....

also, any character that 'instantly falls in love' with the princess/priestess/girl of passing plot importance is not to be 'erased' they are to be taken out back, beaten with rubber tubing then executed at close range with a double barreled shot gun once i grow tired of the sound they make

Neptune from Hyperdimension Neptunia. She's the main reason I quit after an hour of the worst RPG,if not game, I've ever played. Imagine characters like vanille from FF13 and turn everything annoying about them up to 11. I've never seen a kid in a video game I wanted to punch in the face so hard until playing this horrible game.

Penelo and Vanille in Final Fantasy XII and XIII, respectively.

Now that I think about it, I believe that they are actually the same person. >.>
Vanille I understand, but Penelo? She's such a nonentity that I can't imagine her causing any sort of emotion in anyone. Excising her from FFXII would not change the game whatsoever.

JRPG characters I want to never ever see in another JRPG:

1. Tag-along kids, 'nuff said. Actually, remove all kids and teens from JRPG. Adults save the world.
2. Angst ridden characters that philosophize about their ambivalence even though their actions clearly say otherwise.
3. "Kooky spice" characters. A character can be humorous and silly but not to the point where they're just an airhead with a weapon.

I would get rid of the angsty teenager who is totally inept yet becomes the chosen one through plot contrivance.

90% of all JRPG characters are horrible horrible cliched characters, or at least uninteresting. So I would basically destroy the lot of them.
And you've played every JRPG ever made, have you?

Everyone in FF7 except for Red XIII could be gone for all eternity and I'd throw a humongous party to be rid of them all. Especially Cloud with his Popeye the sailor man arms and his constant attitude problems. I can deal with emo(Squall and Hope are my two favorite Final Fantasy characters) but his was just...bad.

Mitsuru in Persona 3 needs to take a chill pill and stop getting on my case about everything. And actually cure me instead of constantly healing up the other party members when they get so much as a scratch on them.

Beat in The World Ends With You was SO. FUCKING. ANNOYING. Especially with how in your face he was about everything. Almost didn't finish the game because of that asshat.

And finally in a way out of left field entry, Barry(the rival) in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Seriously, every rival has been at least somewhat cool except for him. He's just a meth head with a rock for a brain. Hell, even Wally when he was in his emo phase at the beginning of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald was better than Barry.

There's probably more but I can't remember them for the life of me right now.

This person hit the nail on the head. If I ever saw a kid on the battlefield, I would stop everything I was doing and get them to go home (If I didn't kill them myself.) Children have no place on a battlefield unless it is done in a manner that traumatizes them severely. And this whole teenagers telling jokes and laughing as they brutally chop people in half and the game continues to tell me these are well adjusted humans? I think not. Unless you are a sociopath of some type or completely blunt to a humans death, kids should not be enjoying slaughtering hundreds of people. Then they turn around and talk about how awful all the fighting is! Keep annoying kids out of my games!

Vanille, Rise, Rikku and any character that falls under that cliche.

And Farlene from Star Ocean 3 for having the most annoying voice of all time. I like anime and JRPGs and can tolerate a lot but I had to scream at my TV every time she opened her mouth to cover it up (and for the entertainment of friends, but who plays games with their friends anymore? I mean in person, online doesn't count). Still Star Ocean 3 is a fun game.

Though the characters I'd like to get rid of the most isn't from a JRPG, it's that buff dude with short brown hair and a 5o'clock shadow. All of them.

Tidus is most obvious of obvious choices for me. I'm not big on Hope and Quina for other FF characters.

Otherwise, Naoto from Persona 4, Fuuka and Nozomi from Persona 3, Regal from Tales of Symphonia, Mewt from FF Tactics Advance, Amiti from Golden Sun Dark Dawn, the rival girl with the green beret from Pokemon B/W, and most of the cast of Sakura Wars: So Long My Love (why in god's name did I ever buy that)

Good point. I just thought she was kind of pointless and it would have been nice for her to get out of the way so that someone more interesting might step in in her place.

Now Vaan on the other hand, his removal would only be a good thing.

I would not get rid of any JRPG character for the simple reason someone did the work and fleshed out their characters. You can only find someone annoying if there is something there to begin with.

This also means that JRPG characters are better than 100 percent of characters from Western RPGs. I've tried to play those games, but I cannot get emotionally attached to a mannequin. You might want to call it designers giving your choice, but you are wrong. It's called being lazy.
