Fixed for you.

Any FF game is good, ignore the elitists who call themselves fans but arnt.

Also Check out Cross edge SUPER UNDERRATED ps3 JRPG.
I meant as classic-style JRPGs, and yes 5 was kinda crap compared to the rest of the series. 7 and 9 are great also.

Wow MightyMole, you must have quite a collection of JRPG's
Lol as I said I'm a pretty casual JRPG fan. I do own a bit and enjoy the genre but my collection fails in comparison to many others. The survival-horror/horror genre would be more my expertise :p lol

.hack gu, a series of 3 games, best soundtrack in a videogame, and very immersive. It does clock in at over 200 hours so its not to be taken lightly

Hmm. I'm actually doing the absurd thing of playing all the FF games as soon as I can get access to them. (which has slowed down substantially since the remaining few I can't emulate. X/XII/XIII damn your current/lastgen-ness!)
I'm trying this too but I have only got to III

Check out Persona 3 and 4 on PS2, or Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. Legend of Dragoon on Playstation is an underrated gem. Devil Survivor and Strange Adventure on DS are also awesome.
Strange Journey? (The Shin Megami Tensei game that's a throwback to the original SMT games, with the Demonica?) Haa, I love that game. I'm still in the second sector, but man, I love that game. I also agree with you on Legend of Dragoon.

Golden Sun and The Lost Age were good, can't comment on Dark Dawn since I haven't played it yet. Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga was damn good if you can tolerate it being Mario. (Though Partners in Time was eternally dull to me, Bowser's Inside Story is also pretty good.)

Uh... Wow. I need to play some JRPGs myself. Been playing too many masochistic platformers lately.
Yup, that's what I meant. Can't believe I made a I wrote adventure, I'll go ahead and edit it.

Don't forget IX, bro. It brought back the classic feel that VII and VIII were sort of lacking. That's not to say that those two were bad. I still loved them, but they changed the feeling of the games settings and some gameplay elements substantially.

Been doing it since about 2006 when XII came out. I'm up to VIII already.

I was looking for Devil Survivor but I will probably have to import it from the US
Get it form Ebay, there's a reliable seller from Hong Kong that sells that really cheap.

Since you said blue dragon and that means you have a 360, which means get Lost Odyssey. Best JRPG this gen. And one of the better games to come out. I loved it so much. And it doesn't have an annoying cast of characters.

i liked Ar Tonelico Qoga(ps3 exclusive) and FF XIII, apart from that grab Xenogears from psn, best 10 bucks you'll ever spend on j-rpg. Well and Resonance of fate pretty good too. on psp legends of heroes trails in the sky it's GOOD and Phantasy Star Portable 1,2.

Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube/PS2.
Haven't ever played a JRPG that comes close.

I will be the first to mention Terranigma then.

Anybody with even the slightest interest in RPG's should play that game.

Here is a link (I have made like 5 comments all exactly like this).

Steambot Chronicles for the PS2. It has steampunk, music minigames, a cool plot, and robots!

I really enjoyed the Star Ocean series. Really neat combat system, and a typically Japanese sci-fi story line. I love it :)

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. The best JRPG series of all time. Also one of the very few JRPGs that don't bore me to death

Final Fantasy 12 is a controversial one but it's one of my favourites, I'd suggest getting that. Guessing you know about the others since anyone with even a passing interest in JRPGs has played FF7 or 10 at least. I'd second the comment about Atlus/NIS games being very good too, special mention to Etrian Odyssey and Izuna: Legend of the Ninja since they tend to get overlooked. Demon's Souls is another good one.

Been doing it since about 2006 when XII came out. I'm up to VIII already.
I managed to successfully emulate XII. It worked perfectly, except for the cutscenes which lagged a bit.
Still, I've tried about 3 times and have never managed to complete that game. Something about it is just so boring...
