Having female characters who aren't squeaky noise-boxes is what I like most about Mamoru Oshii. Check out the Patlabor properties, if you haven't already. Captain Shinobu Nagumo is possibly the best realistic female character in any anime ever.TheMigrantSoldier said:

For games, I gotta stick to English Dubs. If Persona 4 has taught me anything... is that most English Dubs for games are pretty stellar.
For anime... that's a totally different beast entirely. I personally prefer English Dub, mostly due to my eyes never fond of tracking words on the screen WHILE looking at visuals. If I wanted that i'd take my time and read manga/comics, but for anime it kills my perception, so I mainly stick to my Bebops and my Baccano!s. But there are certain insatnces where Subs just win when it comes to grasping me. Examples being: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure/Kill la Kill that basically LIVE AND BREATH their original over the top japanese voice actors. To the point where it's less of a hassle for my eyes because it's so fast paced enough to where the fun kicks in and my eyes can keep up with both text and frames on screen, if that makes any sense... (god I'm weird). Hell, even dubs for shows like those can be pretty hit or miss too! You can either have great performances from the English VAs that luckily match the show's zaniness (ex. the Gurren Dub, and recently the Stardust Crusader Dub being surprisingly fitting!), or you can end up with the Kill La Kill dub... that makes dubs look bad.

Ugh, I watched PSG with subs (before the dub was released). I can't stand the dub. Panty and Stocking went from being bitchy yet endearing to downright insufferable. The voice work is actually good quality, I just hate the direction they took it in.Leemaster777 said:

With games it doesn't matter to me much but with anime it does. Bad English dubs are excruciating to watch, and sometimes only one season of something gets dubbed so I'd rather watch subs so the voices stay the same all the way through. I've even watched both the dubs and subs of some shows and I appreciate that with subs I can have the volume way down and with dubs I don't have to focus on my screen constantly; so my preference depends on the situation.

I like languages in general, even if I have no idea what they are saying. It's just more fun and it does help the immersion, particularly if it's intended to be set in Japan (for example).DarkhoIlow said:
