I've been seeing that around too, no idea why it's that day. It may have something to do with Nostradamus or something, I wouldn't know.

It's the supposed new date of the Rapture.

I live in the south, so I see "Jesus is coming May 21st" billboards all over town >.>

Crazy religious idiot being crazy. Nothing to see here, move along.

OT: If I had a sign that says "Stop being stupid!", I'd show it to that preacher who came with this crap and beat him over the with it. The world isn't going to end based off the Bible which is not a historical document, or based off a long-gone civilization whose calendar happened to reset eventually. Can we just focus on the now and not waste brain cells coming up with stupid shit?

I've been seeing this for quite a while now, and I'm just as confused as you are about the whole thing.

This is getting rather silly now with these dates.

I like how they moved it up a year, just so those people who thought they could sin till 2012 piss themselves. XD

Anyway, there was another thread on thsi site before, so I'll just quote myself from it.

<spoiler=First, the Original post of the thread, with the thread location>

According to the source below, the world is going to end on May 21, 2011.

http://www.familyradio.com/graphical/literature/judgment/judgment.html

The Holy Bible gives several additional astounding proofs that May 21, 2011 is very accurate as the time for the Day of Judgment. For more information on this subject, you may request a copy of We Are Almost There, available free of charge from Family Radio.
Fellow Escapists, I have two questions for you:

1: Do you think this is really going to happen?

2: If it were, how would you spend your last days?

Personally? I firstly don?t think it was going to happen, but if it were, I would buy a DeLorean. I?ve always wanted one of those cars.

EDIT: If it were true, I would try to dig a fallout shelter. That may be hard, considering I live in an area of Missouri where we have about 8-14 inches of dirt above rock and clay.

EDIT 2: Matthew 24:36 has been cited several times, just so you know.

1) Doubtful, but then again I could be killed on that day, and the world would end (at least for me).

2) just live it out as best I can, spread this around to scare the holy hell out of some people in the mean time.

I think its a fringe group of chritianity that believes something in the bible points to that being the rapture. Of course mainstream christianity believes we will not know when a rapture will happen, I think the bible even says God himself does not know when it will occur.

it has something to do with the bible: something along the lines of God told Moses the flood would happen in 7 days, and 1 day to god must really be 1000 years, and may 21st is exactly 7000 years after god told Moses about the flood

-Noah given seven days warning before flood.
-Bible says that a day with god is like a thousand years.
-The flood occurred 7,000 years ago, this Saturday.

See? It all makes perfect sense. :p

Do we have to wear nike tennis shoes and white robes and prepare to join the mother ship that's in the tail of the comet to go to "heaven"?

EDIT:
off topic: People like this give Christianity a bad name I swear.

how do these nutters even work out these dates? just seems so random. like december 21 2012 atleast has the end of the myan calandar going for it. but what happenes on may 21st.

recently i heard about them doing something like this in the 1800s or something and people believed it that strongly that people jumped of barn roofs at 12:00 thinking they will be raptured up to heaven but instead fall to their deaths.

People have been predicting the end of the world for almost all of recorded history. I see no reason to believe that this time will be any different.

All I know is that I'm looking forward to May 22 when I can laugh at how stupid the people behind this feel.

But then they got their calculations slightly wrong and it's actually a few years off. They can keep that sort of shit coming forever, you know. :p

The best part is the guy who came up with this, has predicted the rapture before and was wrong

My boyfriend's brother is getting married that day, so I plan to take one of the "judgment day May 21st, 2001 CRY FOR MERCY" signs. Hell, already scanned a copy of the invite and a copy of the tract and emailed it to the family

But the slight look of disappointment on their faces would be totally worth being stonewalled by their bullshit.
