So erm, yeh, apparently, according to this site, Scientists have successfully cloned a Dinosaur...Where's John Hammond when you need him?

http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/27557/scientists-clone-dinosaur/

Apparently they extracted the DNA from a fossil (I know, i know but listen okay?!?!) and once the DNA was collected, they injected it into a fertile Ostrich womb...I'm pretty sure it's fake, but hell, i would LOVE for this to be real xD

What you guys think?

So...should we open the bottle we were saving?

I need more than just one source to believe this.

And a Ornithocheirus! (you can tell i loved my dinosaurs as a kid, the amount of times ive watched Walking with Dinosaurs....lost count)

But i highly doubt this is true :(

(just imagine a world where we have dinosaurs as pets...a boy can dream)

Pffft Velociraptor is too mainstream, plus Ornithocheirus isn't a dinosaur >:D

Give me a Stygimoloch and I'll be happy.

Funny thing about this story... One would think such a world changing event would have been featured on the UFL website, and yet not one mention of it that google or I can find.

Also I believe by definition a fossil can't have viable DNA. You need a situation like the frozen mammoth that scientists ARE actually working on cloning right now.
Yeh that's what i thought

Still i let out a girly scream when i read this :') even though it probably (actually, definitely) isn't true :(

Yeah I don't think so. There's another article on there saying they have proof that the Mayans had contact with aliens. And even if they did clone a dinosaur it would mostly likely die pretty quick due to bacteria or lack of oxygen.

But Dr. Trudell doesn?t seem to be bothered by the activists? quibbling. He says that the opportunities afforded by dinosaur cloning are endless.

Within ten years, we could repopulate the world with dinosaurs,? he said. ?We could harvest them for civic service, law enforcement, or even mass transportation.?

?Imagine riding to work on a dinosaur,? he continued. ?Wouldn?t that be incredible??

Oh hey! The Weekly World News :) They shut down the paper (you know, "the President and Batboy go on secret mission to destroy Moon", one) a few years ago. I suppose I should have figured they made it onto the net.

P.S. - Yes this is fake. This site is like the onion. Funny stuff though

Yeah, that's obviously bullshit. And even if it was possible to bring back the dinosaurs, why should we? They serve absolutely no practical use, the only thing that they would be good for is observation and finding out more about them, and I honestly can't see that turning out well.

Better hold it from what I see in the thread. Don't want to waste that good stuff.... what is it anyway?

A dinosaur could not survive in todays atmosphere without some gene splicing of some kind.

Remember there was a lot more oxygen in the air when the Dinosaurs ruled the earth, which is why they got so big.

Any cloned dinosaur would die pretty quickly because it's lungs wouldnt be able to get enough oxygen from our air.

Oh come on. You got to be kidding me. The site does have the Batboy picture of approval next to the paper site name. And who can you believe if you can't believe Batboy.

He's super credible. Didn't you know that Batboy won a Pulitzer Prize in journalism. They don't give those to anybody that walks in, unlike those Nobel Peace prizes.

I don't know what's in it.

Life finds a way.

[sub][sub][sub][sub]But you are right. Of course we could always build some giant dome with a perfect ecosystem...couldn't we?[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
