So June 22nd, 2018 will see a sequel to the third largest grossing movie of all time. By this point nothing is really known and we can only speculate, but given how the movie turned out I think it's safe to say we aren't going to see a repeat of the original Jurassic Park squeals in terms of quality drop.
I feel like I'm the only one that thought that this movie sucked [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.878238-tippy2k2-tells-you-what-to-think-Jurassic-World]. Not that it was good or alright (Which seemed to be the prevailing critical view) but was actively bad. Everything that went wrong in the film came down to people doing stupid things and repeating mistakes that were made in two other freaking parks...
All well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Can we at least focus on the only thing worth watching in the first one (Chris Pratt) this time?

Well keep in mind the only reason anything bad happened in the first one was because the whole park was controlled by a single person who the owner knew had money problems, so it's not as if there isn't a precedent set for stupid mistakes being made being what drives the plot (hell, same applies to real life, stupid mistakes tend to be what leads to disasters of the non-natural kind)

That's why the first one is good; while security and whatnot could have been better, it was still in the testing phase with minimal staff and operations. They probably should have thought it out a bit better but I can forgive the mistakes...the first time.
Jurassic World has every single person taking stupid pills. I'll throw a few examples into a spoiler for those who don't want to know...
"Guys! We can't find the super dinosaur! There are claw marks on the wall. Rather than rolling the cameras back or taking any kind of precautions of any kind, let's just wander out there and see if we can figure out what happened..."
"The dinosaur escaped! Well don't worry guys, we have all of these stun sticks to stop the dinosaur! It would be nice if we didn't have to stand right next to the giant monster with claws and fangs but stun guns are expensive people!"
"Shit, everyone died. Well don't worry, we'll switch to Live Ammo now! Two Iraq veterans are with us on the copper? What are you trying to get us killed!??! Put the CEO who doesn't have his pilots license in the drivers seat and let the two trained troopers shoot the gun!...well, one trained trooper to shoot the gun, the other one should sit there and look handsome and not do anything."
"Well shit, the CEO just blew up. Well fear not! We have Chris Pratt and his raptors to save the day! Now as long as the giant dinosaur can't communicate and have the raptors turn on us, we'll be fine"
"...the raptors turned on us. Well don't worry men, we've trained for this. Everyone run off on your own through the tall grass at night. I have a good feeling about this fight!"
"Shit...basically everyone is dead and we don't know what to do here. Well...have the other dinosaurs save the day by attacking the big dinosaur. It worked in Jurassic Park and that's a classic!"
It's the same issue I had with "28 Weeks Later"; at some point, these people don't get the benefit of the doubt working with things they know nothing about.
It's kind of iffy on that. Jurassic World is, on paper, a sequel to Jurassic Park, but at the same time the official site advertising the movie mention that Chris Pratt (let's face it, we don't care about his character's name) killed the three teradactles from the end of the third one one year after the events of that movie.
Either way, if they call it Jurassic World 2 there isn't really a big deal with that happening since the events of the second and third movie don't really have any world changing effects on them, so so long as none of the character from those two movies show up there's no reason to take a stance as to their canonicity.
Make it so the story and characters are actually pretty good alongside the ridiculous glory that are the action set pieces and Jurassic World 2 could be a great film. Call me cautiously optimistic, because it's hard to live up to that final climax.
I'll probably watch it because I'm a sucker for dumb movies with cool visual effects. I'm such a pleb

I for one am very tolerant of dumb plots with dumb characters doing dumb things for dumb reasons if it means I get to watch a bunch of dinosaurs fight!I usually set my expectations very low for CGI spectacles like this one.
I mean, that dinosaur free for all in the end? common! that was pretty entertaining!
Your spoiler is entirely accurate though, definitely made me lol.
Huh... Again, I was not expecting that from this series and, unlike with Pacific Rim 2, the hype I have for this is on par with my hype with Jurassic World instead of exceeding towards eminent fanboy territory...
Other than that, will this sequel feel more like Jurassic Park 2, a smarter Jurassic World, or the Jurassic World equivalent to Jurassic Park 3?

I've heard rumors of a dinosaur commando type of thing that they planned to do with the original series. I forget where I heard the rumor, but the movie's cookie cutter bad guy character was practically begging for that the entire movie. Soooooooooo T-rex with mounted machine guns fighting in Iraq would be kind of similar to the T-rex in San Francisco thing.
Movie made a ridiculous amount of money, so a sequel (fifth film) was inevitable. I think it's a mistake, personally. I think the strong reaction to the first (fourth) one was more a sign of super-hero fatigue and eagerness for "new" summer fare than an endorsement of a new wave of dinosaur movies. The second (fifth) one won't seem nearly as fresh, and will almost certainly under-perform against expectations.
They also got lucky landing Pratt at the zenith of a popularity crest. A lot of things went right for Jurassic World.
There is the fact that Dr....*Double Checks name to make sure I'm not being a bit racist*...Wu left the Island with all the Dinosaur foetuses and DNA and left with the InGen military branch. Maybe Jurassic World will be about a world that is becoming a lot more Jurassic.

That's how it was for me. After the relentless stream of super hero movies it was just cool to finally see some dinosaurs again.

The only way they'd get me back in the theater for a sequel is if they went full-on dino-apocalypse. That obviously wouldn't make a lick of sense or grant itself for the usual feel-good ending, but I don't know what else they could do to make this interesting again -- Jurassic World itself was like the last entertaining spasm this franchise could muster.
Jurassic World 2, referring to the planet rather than the theme park.
Chris Pratt is a member of the DSAA (Dinoterrorism Security Assessment Alliance), an organization established to combat the spread of genetically engineered dinosaur embryos through the black market.
The nefarious Dr. Wusker believes that dinosaur DNA is the key to the next stage of human evolution. In the film's final scene, he will inject himself with an embryo that turns him into some transforming human-velociraptor-tyrannosaur hybrid, thereby setting the stage for Jurassic World 3.
In all seriousness, I actually really liked the movie. It's my second favorite film of the franchise, and not just by virtue of sucking less than Jurassic Park 3. I'm a bit leery about where they might take the series given the way the last one ended, but I'm sure it'd be a fun flick regardless. And frankly, that's all it really takes to get me into the theater.
