So I am the only one onboard the hyped train (the unseen hybrid was a great tease for me)?
It's basically a large, white looking t-rex with red eyes and slightly odd shaped snout, but there is more to it then just it's initial appearance.

I bet it's a cross between a t-rex and that big one with the large fin on it's back from the last film.
It's a T-rex/velociraptor/cuttlefish/snake hybrid called Diablos-rex (or 'D-rex' for short). So what we can assume is it's going to be a velociraptor smart T-rex with cuttlefish color/texture camo and the ability to swallow enormous things whole. Actually there is no assumption about the camo part, they already stated it will change color/turn invisible.

But aw man why they gotta go throw in a hybrid super dino thingy, normal dinosaurs not good enough?
That's actually the plot of the movie, not even kidding. Apparently the park isn't making enough money so they had to frankenstine something up to catch people's interest.

So it's the Carnotaurus from Michael Crichton's second Jurassic Park novel "The Lost World" only Velociraptor smart rather than a slow ambush predator.

So what we have here is an apex predator the size of a two story building, intelligent enough that it grasps the notion of 'dead men tell no tales', a seriously shitty temper, potentially turning invisible or well camouflaged and possibly venomous/poisonous. If the guy that thought this up isn't a plant from either Weyland-Yutani or the Umbrella Corporation I will be very shocked.

Just LOL.

If the humans of this universe honestly find vanilla dinosaurs not exciting enough then they truly deserved to be ripped apart by raptors.

*sees that velociraptors are now tamed and friendly*

WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Aw c'mon!

There better be a lot of munched on humans at least, I'm a simple man who is easily entertained and don't ask for much, is the idea of a park full of juicy steaks on 2 legs trying to GTFO out of an island full of vicious predators too much to ask?

Catchpra: "pipe dream"

Ever get the feeling the universe is trolling you? :/

The only thing that's gonna stick with me on that trailer is this...

Are we also in a time where sharks are no longer endangered? Why are we feeding them sharks of all things? That just seems like a real asshole-ish thing to do. "Hah! F*ck you shark! You're not the baddest aquatic carnivore there is!"

The science bashing was present in earlier films
I don't remember any science bashing, as far as I can remember it was fairly complimentary of science and mostly bashed the amoral use of discoveries for moneymaking. The main critique of InGen was that it was using scientific discoveries without thinking through the moral, ethical or even the logistical issues of their plan because they were just too desperate to push their plan through, to the extent that they didn't even plan adequate birth control for the freakin' velociraptors.

I was watching The Lost World earlier today, and something stood out to me. That film does not look as good as the first, but it still looks better than this. And I realized it was the subtle stuff around the CGI dinos. When the Stegosaurus herd comes through the forest, you can see trees and bushes being pushed aside and trampled, and it's all real. Nowadays, people just don't composite shots anymore when they can make the entire thing in CGI.

They put live action actors against a CGI background, instead of putting CGI creations onto real locations. Even Walking With Dinosaurs did this better, and that was on a TV budget! (Also, great documentary series, go watch it on Netflix)

There was an undercurrent and overcurrent about how the park was doomed to fail because genetic manipulation was inherently bad. Every character said that and they were apparently validated when it all went to shit, so I'm pretty sure that's what Spielberg was going for.

I agree that the way things play out, it was entirely InGen's fault that it went to hell, but I frequently don't pay attention to author intent.

They missed out on a massive marketing oportunity here. I would have run the trailer as an add for an actual theme park/holiday resort. Keep shots of the big bad and it all going wrong out of the way, show a few dinosaurs like the ones you would see if you were going. You could even have a tie in website, with info and booking etc.
You know, that's actually a really good idea. I mean, the whole appeal of the movie is getting to see an actual functioning park.

As far as I know no character actually critiques the morality of genetic engineering as a science, they critique InGen's usage of it to make money and the fact that they respect their colossal power so little that they frequently don't even know what a dinosaur's behaviour or physical capabilities actually are. Their first action upon successfully cloning dinosaurs is to stick them in a theme park.

The main critique of InGen is that they created dinosaurs, didn't adequately understand what they'd done and rushed it in to production without actually checking that their controls worked. They also refused to take action when the dinosaurs didn't function as expected, ignored the advice of professionals because it was inconvenient and didn't take the proper care they should have done around contamination.

EDIT: If they had listened to their experts they'd have had a far more fleshed out IT team, spent more on development, killed off the raptors, had locks on the vehicle doors etc.

Also if you haven't read it yet, try the book.

*watches trailer for the umpteenth time* Either I'm so stupid that I can't be cynical about all this or despite still being nostalgic for the first movie, I still feel completely indifferent to the whole JP franchise as well as its suppose "lore", but fuck it! I can't fucking WAIT until I can see this movie in theaters!

With that said, after watching
and
even if I did hate this [official] trailer, I would still like those two videos in general...

That sounds like a bunch of stupid nonsense bullshit.

So the park isn't making enough money and their solution to the problem is to genetically engineer a dinosaur that turns invisible? How are visitors supposed to see it if it turns FUCKING INVISIBLE?! Why would anyone be excited about coming to the park to see this apex predator that they can't actually see?

Feed it LSD, so it turns all sorts of weird freaky colours...
