Preliminary tests on Time Machine were marginally successful. While incapable of sustaining the vessel's complete reintegration, the pathways are correctly calibrated, offering only a month or so as a margin of error in either direction. The target destination of Year 2001 was reached, however reintegration occurred at an awkward and inopportune moment. For ease of use, a failsafe ensuring arrival during normal sleeping hours should be implemented. An interesting anomaly to note was that while the vessel's body remained that of his 2001 self, his HAIR was that of his current self. While it's entirely possible this has to do with the vertical calibration, which, as we all know, when overextended, even by only a few millimeters, can result in a parallel leap into an all too different version of the chosen dimension. It's important to note that time machines are not ACTUALLY time machines, but inter dimensional expressways. Currently around you is every moment that ever was and ever will be existing all at once. My project doesn't actually change time, just phases you into a TIME replica of your current dimension. But if you mess up the VCal, your destination becomes a dimension that could vary from your own greatly. To prevent this, I've installed counterweights onto the vessel and VCal modifier, but have not stress tested such protective measures for fear of losing connection with what i'm calling the Mother Dimension (the vessels Home Dimension).

I'll keep you updated as more testing is completed.

if you sent it back to 2001, what took you so long to report this? if the machine can have a margin of error of 1 month, how can you assure it appears during normal sleeping hours? if it all it does is send it to a different dimension, how can you ever know it arrives?

i could only spend a few moments in the period before the wrinkle in time ironed out and forced me back to this reality. it's a problem i'm working on fixing.

again, i'm going to attempt to reintegrate during sleep hours, but that can't be accomplished until i tighten the time frame from ~1 month margin of error to a much smaller figure. that will be my biggest hurdle.

and as for being aware as to whether or not you've arrived, upon arrival, i'd recommend looking for a newspaper, or turning on the tv. also, as i've stated, your mind remains the same mind, but goes into that dimensions bodily version of yourself. look at a mirror and see how young you look.

it's all still very "rough draft" but just the fact that this much has been accomplished is a huge step forward. i just need to ensure that the target dimension accepts the integration without any serious space-time fabric reprucussions. the time travelers first rule: don't destroy existance through a rip in the fabric.

i suppose i'll just continue asking questions then.

if you're having difficulties with the time frame, how have you managed to always end up on earth?

if you appear as the you from that time period, what would happen if you went back before your birth?

what happens to the you from that time period? do you control this being? or are you a separate entity?

a little off topic, but where do you get funding for this project?

I swear that you wouldn't be able to travel further back than when the machine was created.

Okay, hold on a minute here. I have a few questions about this thread. One, if this interdimensional expressway machine actually works, how come we are hearing about this through The Escapist forums? You have to have some sort of professional funding to make such a machine and the people funding would almost certainly want media coverage, unless they want to keep it under wraps... Then why post about it in The Escapist forums? I would liked to be linked to some other threads that Marty has mentioned hist Time machine in before because everyone here is taking it quite seriously...

Paradoxes and temporal eddies. It's a mindfield out there in the time vortex.

Also, just making sure... Are things working in accordance to the theory of stable time loops in our own history or the creation of alternate timelines that diverge from our own with the presence of the time traveler?
