One thing I always here a complaint from Europeans to us is that we are violent people who carry guns and get into wars. Ok now lets set this aside.

Whenever I talk about sports with Europeans they say we have panzy sports like american football because we wear padding and their fans are better. They then continue to explain their fans are better because they get really violent and kill each other at soccer games.

Now tell me do you see a hypocrisy here?

No, I do not "see a contradictory here," because that does not make any sense in any language or thought process, ever.

I do, however, sense hypocrisy.
Ya sorry wrong use of terms. I fix.

Perhaps. But then and again, arguing about sports is like arguing who's hair colour is the best.
I could care less about some sports, like why American football is called football.

The rest, I basically couldn't care less about.

Uhm.
I've never heard that argument before.

I think American Football is dumb. I don't think it's for pansies, though.
Furthermore, I don't think real Football is better because of hooligans. On the contrary, hooligans ruin the event.
I just like the game more.

do you talk to the same Europeans about that?
because then yeah, that is hypocritic
but i'm European, don't like guns, and I would laugh at the stupid zeal soccerfans demonstrate, if I wasn't afraid they would beat the crap out of me.
however, when talking about american football, i find rugby way more badass, and more of a sport.

You have your guns, the europeans have fencing, let's leave it at that.

However I don't think American football is pansy by any stretch of the imagination considering the number of injuries even with that gear.

I think rugby is far better than American football, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who says hooligans are great barring hooligans themselves. I think that America needs to tone down on the "everyone can own a gun without training" thing while Britain needs to tone up on the "give police guns" thing. But I digress... I think. I can't tell if what I said was on or off topic.

Oh, and by the way, rugby is the only sport I like, but I still don't follow it that closely.

Well the first thing you said was untrue. I mean the USA does it's best to make sure the citizens who LEGALLY own guns are properly trained to do so. I mean you need a hunters license to hunt and in order to do that you have to take hunter's safety class. As far as pistol and other rifles go, most people I know who own guns properly maintain them and practice shooting them at legal shooting ranges.

I just believe it is a citizens right to legally own a firearm. The criminals will always find ways to illegally obtain a firearm so I think a law obeying citizen should have every right to protect themselves against the criminals.

Actually, in the majority of thigs I've read about America's gun laws is that more people are killed by their own guns than a criminals because they don't know how to use it correctly. Secondly, if guns were restricted, you'd find far fewer school massacres (someone on CVG said this far better than I).

Untrue. How did Columbine happen? Illegally sold guns. The two kids involved with Columbine bought all of their guns illegally.

well fans don't get into fights.

those are the hooligans they generally come to ''soccer'' games just to cause a fight.
real fans don't do that stuff.

Hypocrisy is a little strong, if you ask me. There's a big difference between a contact sport and a war. Alothgh, as far as I'm aware (I don't really play sports) Rugby has stricter rules on how you can tackle somthing than american football, so the padding's more neccesary than most people think it is.

We(Europeans) still get more entertainment value from watching football games. We get drama and action at the same time (Hooligans fighting with the police in the middle and players ripping on the arbiter for not being fare)

I have no idea how it happened. I was eight, I didn't know or care. Now I'm eighteen I don't really want to venture into that sort of thing (except to say that games aren't the problem). Secondly, even if what you say is true (and Wikipedia agrees :p), it still wouldn't have happened if gun restrictions were tightened up harder. I'm still trying to decide how hard due to arguments I've heard for and against guns recently, but my previous idea was that it would be far better if only the police (and soldiers, obvious) were allowed to carry guns.

I believe a more apt name for American Football is Ovalball. It's not really an egg, per se, more of an oval ;)
