And I have to wait for Steam to authorise me to use their forums, and I can't verify my steam account to link it to my forum account because I can't read their stupid captcha.... ARRGH, what is the point is Steam? Really?

They say that piracy takes money from developers, and they're right it does... but Steam propose to be the solution for this, yet all they seem to do is take money from developers (I'm sure having your game be part of Steam isn't free) and don't seem to provide anything in return. They're just a load of fat cat middle men who have hit on the golden formula to charge customers for providing no services.

OK Rant over, Square Enix have tech support. I'll go there.

OK, final idea. Probably the longest shot yet - try runninght egame as Administrator and fiddle with the compatibility options. Dunno, if you tried it. Again, I doubt it'll work, but no harm in trying.

I did try running the game as an administrator, snd also running Steam as an administrator, as well as compatability modes and similar. I'll see if there's anything new in that area to try.

Meanwhile, waiting on responses from tech support.

OK so... It doesn't help googling if this forum thread seems to the one of the top ranking pages.

This is the fix that worked for me :
http://steamcommunity.com/app/28050/discussions/0/864973123824190120/

I tried deleting key files and verifying cache
I windows updated everything
I got the latest drivers from Nvidia.

Turns out the Motherboard onboard gpu conflicts with the nvidia one.

Using device manager to disable the extra display device worked straight away.

Top ranked of Google? That does explain the odd occurrences of Thread Necromancy that pop up every once and awhile.

Thanks for the info mate.
