Bang, this pretty much sums up how I feel about this kind of movie. They need to have gore to have a proper "war" against frakking machine aliens. I for one am sick of tired of them trying to make PG-13 movies all the time.Private Custard said:
I've been curious to watch BLA (now that's a nice acronym), but now that I see it compared to Independence Day, I'm not so excited anymore.
You see, I agree with what someone said up there, you have to be American (and pretty blinded by patriotism) to enjoy Independence Day, AKA that movie where some aliens invade Planet USA.
Okay, I'm being bitter. That movie had some cool dogfights and explosions, at least. I just hope BLA will add a good story to that mix.

Seems like Transformers entertainment, so basically stupid entertainment. Might go see it with friends though since nothing else is interesting me.

REALLY??? I havent seen it yet, it just blew my mind that this turned out well. I really didn't expect it to, but i've been thinking about it in the back of my head for the past few weeks. Hopefully it gets the recognition it deserves and dosen't turn into another "District 9" , which was a really well made alien movie with no hype. Also, I share your view of Nolan films, Inception is the only movie I've spent literally weeks thinking about, and the Dark Knight is probably the best sci-fi drama, if not the absolute best, movie everMoeez said:
I'm a sucker for disaster, end of the world movies. Cloverfield, 2012, Day after tommorow. Movies I probably shouldn't like but I just get so entertained by them I can't stay away. This falls under this category checking it out saturday night. Ill probably share this guys opinion
Im going to see it. Critics are bullshit and they never rate any movie positively. I am willing to bet that this movie kicks ass despite what all the douche bags that hate life say.
I never trash movies... I always seem to find positive things to say about them and try my hardest to enjoy it even if it is bad.
Battle Los Angeles... I would have bet good money I would have come away happy from this movie but it is very very bad. It is dull and cliche filled total trash.
It is full of horrible cliches (and not even good expected cliches).
This is like an independance day spin off.. "mean while on the ground some generic stereo-typical US marines shoot at nothing and blow more up than the aliens whilst Will smith does the good stuff up in the air"
I doubt very much that they had any kind of military expert as a consultant during production. The dialogue and the action scenes are just wrong.
But by far the most infuriatingly rubbish part of this movie is the fact that the characters are continually banging on about how "we are the last ones" or "no one else is left it is up to us" But in the background the aliens are always fighting from street to street, who are they fighting? It seems to me that this was an great idea but they ran out of money after the first week of shooting so they filled the rest of the movie with copy paste crap scenes from different angles.
But dont get me wrong... go and see this movie! if only so you can share the amazement and bewilderment I now feel toward the OP's comments.
Passing remark... try and count how many times they shout "staff sergeant" I bet you give up before the movie is half way.

Actually, they did. Aaron Eckhart mentioned that in interviews, the whole cast went to boot camp for 3 weeks. They lived that kind of life, Big Brother style. Eckhart was corrected at many stages for their dialogue, like saying "chopper" instead of "helo".BulletBoom said:
