You should get Just Cause 2 going smooth with one of these.

Thanks for the help, though with budget I'm running on each month, it's going to have to wait until I can get a job. I don't consider over $100 cheap. With the way things are looking, it will be a miracle if I can get a job anytime soon.

The problem is there are too many people looking for work. The older workers get first crack at all openings it seems, while people fresh out of college are told that they don't have the experience, even though the experience that I got it college is exactly the experience the employers are looking for. Then there are the underhanded tactics where people with absolutely no experience(even no college) get hired, because they have friends in the business that can vouch for them. I wish businesses ran like the dealership that my friend's mom works for. They will not hire friends or family of people that already work there.

That's quite a shame. What job are you currently going with? Personally, I'm enrolling into a BE and BSc and I'm planning to major in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics respectively. The idea is that if I'm have a hard time with Engineering I can find a job with my Applied Maths major doing statistics for a bank, government, other corporation etc if I really need a job. Plus I like maths.

Shame too about the graphics card! I consider $150 or less a bargain! The minimum I would be willing to spend would be about $200 maximum would be about $400. The magic of being a PC gamer.
Well I have my four year English degree. Surprisingly there are a lot of places it is viable here, but aside from that, even though I got a lot of experience writing for the workplace as well as creative writing, as long as I don't have credentials working at a writing workplace, I can't get in. My only work experience being working night stock at a grocery store, though even though I apply to such places as that as well just so I can have something, I still can't get work there either.

One of my friends is in a similar boat as well. He graduated with a four year Engineering degree about a year ago. All he has been able to get in that time is 6 weeks at a Target(they slipped him, when they decided they needed to cut staff, that's a whole other story), and several months ago he was able to work at a factory making bio-fuels, making $14 an hour, for a little over a month. The place shut down when they had disagreements with their ingredient suppliers. He got shown the door and told that they might hire him back on in April if they get things worked out. He has tried getting jobs at 7 different engineering places in a three state area. All except for one told him that his engineering experience from college doesn't count as experience. The other one told him that 2 years of college counts as 1 year of experience, but he wasn't eligible because they wanted at least 3 years of experience and his college only meant that he had 2 years experience.

The hiring system of employers around here are messed up.

For a long time now I've been hearing people going on and on about Steam and how awesome it is. Don't get me wrong I loved playing the whole of Orange Box and both L4D's on the 360 but I thought it was time to look more into the pc side of Valve. So I was just wondering what do you guys reccomend I buy first? And also I assume you get all the valve dlc for free on this as opposed to paying on xbox? It doesn't have to be a valve game either I saw every fallout on there as well which is kinda cool. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I guess for discussion value? What are you guys favourite steam or valve games?
First rule to follow with steam, Wait for the sales!

Second.

I've been hearing good things about Team Fortress 2, I don't know if many people still play it but I do hear its not as generic as those normal CoD-esque shooters. It also utilses a lot of strategy to. So pick that up and I would also say Portal, but all of these are on the Orange Box Xbox too, still you should get them for PC.

Aliens vs. Predator 2.

I shit you not, that game is fuckin' amazing. Play as the Alien Runner and you'll see what I mean. Shift doesn't make you sprint, it makes you able to walk on any surface you want to. That means you can pounce and rip a guy to shreds from any angle, then return back to the roof and scurry away :3

Well, TF2 and L4D has free DLC. I think every Valve game has free DLC... (newer that is). Hmm, start with TF2 maybe?

If your PC can handle it, Just Cause 2 is a definite purchase.
Well I found out that my PC can't even handle the first Just Cause.

I saw the sale and I bought on impulse, though I did look at the minimum specs and I thought I met them.

This is my system:
Operating System: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium* , Service Pack 1 (6.0.6001)
DirectX* Version: 10.0
Physical Memory: 3316 MB
Minimum Graphics Memory: 8 MB
Maximum Graphics Memory: 286 MB
Graphics Memory in Use: 185 MB
Processor: x86 family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6
Processor Speed: 2493 MHZ

Accelerator in Use: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
Video BIOS: 1471
Current Graphics Mode: 1920 by 1080 True Color (60 Hz)

When I try to start Just Cause, it gives me an error message. It asks me if I have updated my drivers, which I have checked and they are up to date. It also asks me to see if my graphics card supports the functions vertex shader 1.1 and pixel shader 1.1.

When I looked things up, all things point to that my Chipset doesn't support 1.1 shaders. So my question would be to the people in the know out there, what's the cheapest graphics card out there that will run both Just Cause and Just Cause 2.

I'm okay with my buying mistake. It has just forced me to do what I have been putting off for far too long: Making upgrades to my apparently crappy computer.
...don't even think about buying anything on steam if you can't handle Just Cause. All the games worth getting are a hell of a lot more resource intensive.

EDIT: Also what is the difference between pc and 360 TF2?
About the same as the difference between a bread crumb and a $25,000 ice cream sundae. [http://www.luxist.com/2007/11/08/serendipity-3-creates-the-worlds-most-expensive-dessert/]

But besides that, pretty much any game you want on PC, you can now buy through Steam.

I stop using steam a few years ago, I come back now and EVERYTHING is on there.

Natural Selection is a good one, Garry's Mod, Sven Co-oP, BrainBread, another good one with slow-mo diving and wicked customization of guns, can't remember the damn name now.

Good lord it's true. The moment my steam profile hit the triple digits I thought it was lying to me. Oh, Steam, you sly devil and your sales...every time!
