Thanks for the help, though with budget I'm running on each month, it's going to have to wait until I can get a job. I don't consider over $100 cheap. With the way things are looking, it will be a miracle if I can get a job anytime soon.starfox444 said:You should get Just Cause 2 going smooth with one of these.Sonic Doctor said:-snip-

Well I have my four year English degree. Surprisingly there are a lot of places it is viable here, but aside from that, even though I got a lot of experience writing for the workplace as well as creative writing, as long as I don't have credentials working at a writing workplace, I can't get in. My only work experience being working night stock at a grocery store, though even though I apply to such places as that as well just so I can have something, I still can't get work there either.starfox444 said:That's quite a shame. What job are you currently going with? Personally, I'm enrolling into a BE and BSc and I'm planning to major in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics respectively. The idea is that if I'm have a hard time with Engineering I can find a job with my Applied Maths major doing statistics for a bank, government, other corporation etc if I really need a job. Plus I like maths.Sonic Doctor said:-snip-starfox444 said:You should get Just Cause 2 going smooth with one of these.Sonic Doctor said:-snip-

Shame too about the graphics card! I consider $150 or less a bargain! The minimum I would be willing to spend would be about $200 maximum would be about $400. The magic of being a PC gamer.
First rule to follow with steam, Wait for the sales!Flamehero1 said:For a long time now I've been hearing people going on and on about Steam and how awesome it is. Don't get me wrong I loved playing the whole of Orange Box and both L4D's on the 360 but I thought it was time to look more into the pc side of Valve. So I was just wondering what do you guys reccomend I buy first? And also I assume you get all the valve dlc for free on this as opposed to paying on xbox? It doesn't have to be a valve game either I saw every fallout on there as well which is kinda cool. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I guess for discussion value? What are you guys favourite steam or valve games?

...don't even think about buying anything on steam if you can't handle Just Cause. All the games worth getting are a hell of a lot more resource intensive.Sonic Doctor said:Well I found out that my PC can't even handle the first Just Cause.Trolldor said:If your PC can handle it, Just Cause 2 is a definite purchase.
I saw the sale and I bought on impulse, though I did look at the minimum specs and I thought I met them.
This is my system:
Operating System: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium* , Service Pack 1 (6.0.6001)
DirectX* Version: 10.0
Physical Memory: 3316 MB
Minimum Graphics Memory: 8 MB
Maximum Graphics Memory: 286 MB
Graphics Memory in Use: 185 MB
Processor: x86 family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6
Processor Speed: 2493 MHZ
Accelerator in Use: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
Video BIOS: 1471
Current Graphics Mode: 1920 by 1080 True Color (60 Hz)
When I try to start Just Cause, it gives me an error message. It asks me if I have updated my drivers, which I have checked and they are up to date. It also asks me to see if my graphics card supports the functions vertex shader 1.1 and pixel shader 1.1.
When I looked things up, all things point to that my Chipset doesn't support 1.1 shaders. So my question would be to the people in the know out there, what's the cheapest graphics card out there that will run both Just Cause and Just Cause 2.
I'm okay with my buying mistake. It has just forced me to do what I have been putting off for far too long: Making upgrades to my apparently crappy computer.
About the same as the difference between a bread crumb and a $25,000 ice cream sundae. [http://www.luxist.com/2007/11/08/serendipity-3-creates-the-worlds-most-expensive-dessert/]Flamehero1 said:EDIT: Also what is the difference between pc and 360 TF2?
Good lord it's true. The moment my steam profile hit the triple digits I thought it was lying to me. Oh, Steam, you sly devil and your sales...every time!SimuLord said:Hope you've got, like, $2000 lying around. You're gonna need it.![]()
