Just in case you somehow missed the thread title:

This thread contains dragon-size spoilers for the game

Well, Bioware did it again.

I must admit it took me a while to get into this game. The beginning (Human Noble) was slow, and the combat system took some getting used to.

But when it got going, it was fantastic. I've never cared so much for a group of game characters.

The ending was very epic. I allowed Alistair redeem himself for being a whiney little ***** about Loghain by taking the final hit on the archdemon.

My favorite moments in the game...

1. Shale stepping on the chicken.

2. Telling the smitten Dalish elf you would kick his head in if he didn't hurry up and tell you what was wrong with him.

What choices did you all make?

Who killed the arch demon?

DId anyone have the baby with Morrigan?

Any parts you felt were weak? (I thought the deep roads went on way too long)

And what were your favorite moments from the game?

You could just the the
trick, instead of putting it in the title.

I liked the game a lot. But I hated the sloth demon part. That was pretty crappy.

Overall, its a solid Bioware title that will get one more playthrough... maybe...

I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but......I can't beat the game.

But yeah, I did have the baby with Morrigan.

Yeah but the thread is mainly for people who have finished it and want to discuss the story freely.

Hell yeah I had the baby with Morrigan, I mean some girl comes up to you and says "So you wanna do it?" What would you say?

No but seriously, I had grown attached to my character and I didn't want him or anyone else dieing so I did what I thought was best.

i thought that part was awesome, one of my favorite game segments, actually.

The game seems to strongly favor the nice guy. I killed the big tree, for instance, on my first playthrough. Got squat.

Second playthrough, got a great staff for wynn when i rescued his acorn.

Yeah, I had the baby.

Which means I also killed the Archdemon.

Oh, and I became King with Anora as my Queen, and we led Fereldin into a new Golden Age!
I pretty much made Ferelden a great place to be.

Except in Orzammar, where I chose to support Harrowmont. I chose that because he was a better person then the other guy, who was the kings own son.

And it made Orzimmar basically decend into civil war.

Apparently choosing the right answer isn't the best thing for everyone.

And I also thought the Deep Roads went on to long.
It was great, but just dragged on and on and on...

My favorite parts of the game were probably the boss fights. The High Dragon, Archdemon, and Flemeth fights were all amazing. I just wish they lasted longer or there were more of them. A lot of the other bosses were really pushovers, and didn't present any more of a challenge than a standard pack of enemies. Dragons were tons of fun though, cause you actually had to play well to beat them.

My biggest letdown is the equipment in the game. None of it felt interesting. The progression from level 1 to level 25 really doesn't give you much more power in the way it does in many other RPGs. I felt like my damage may have doubled from 1 to 25, while in many other games it would be 10 times as much. The gear was a giant letdown across the board. The only good gear was Blood Dragon Armor and Wade's Dragonscale sets. Everything else was AWFUL and boring as hell.

same here in all this, especially on the deep roads, i saw the map the first time and was like "ahh holy shit...this is gonna be a pain in the ass" in which it was, it was just long and took forever, no real cool parts about it, they could have had like a small dwarf city that had been cut off, like 20 dwarves or so, and they had some sick ass elder dwarf armor and axes, that would have made it much more enjoyable along the way

i personally loved the ending, the dragon was a ***** ass to kill, i spent the last 1/4th of my battle running away to heal and sent all my dwarves and archers in for backup

The deep roads did tend to drag on for quite a bit, but it was a solid dungeon crawling experance.

I took the final blow on the Archdemon. But I had the baby with Morrigan

I wish the game took more emphasis on the Religion aspect.

And I would write more but my thoughts are best summed up here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.166483]

Poor Alistair. I don't get why so many people find him so annoying. I thought he was very funny and rightfully upset about Loghain's betrayal. *shrug* Oh well.

I've played through to the end about 5 times now. Most endings I do the ritual with Morrigan because my characters believe it's more important to survive this encounter, and they can deal with the god baby later. But on any playthroughs where my character is opposed to blood magic and sketchy rituals, I take the hit and sacrifice myself. I sacrificed Alistair and Loghain once to get the achievements...then promptly reloaded and sacrificed myself.

Let's see...I liked the Deep Roads a lot just because there's so much loot and so many side quests down there (I missed a bunch my first time through). The only area that bugs me every time is the Lost in Dreams part. The Fade is so freaking blurry and monotone. The only redeeming aspect of that area are the companion nightmares. Zevran's in particular made quite the impression. I already liked him when I started playing, but seeing what he went through with the Crows has now pushed him into favorite character position. He's always who my Grey Wardens romance.

I love how there are so many shout-outs in this game, especially to Baldur's Gate. The Gaxxkang fight was glorious, if not as difficult as the original Kangaxx. Plus, if you get Warden's Keep you get to witness Superman's origin story (hysterical). "Gather your party and venture forth" made me laugh when I first saw it, and the "When in doubt, go for the eyes" loading screen made me shoot, "Boo!!!!"

All in all, this is my GOY for 2009. I can't stop playing it!

Yup. The Sloth Demon part was just way too long I found. I mean, you already fought your way up to the top of the tower, and then had to go through all of that, and then more before you reached the final boss. And it felt like I was just running through copy pasted hallways for it.

I'll probably be playing this again also... But not for a good while.

And on topic for my ending.

Alistair killed the Arch Demon.

Told Morrigan to piss right off.

And my Elf went on to adventure for a short while with Leliana and Zevran. Also he gave the Circle of Magi independence.

Only my first playthrough could be consiered honest as any subsequent attempts were marred by knowing exactly what would happen if I took a particular course. In short, though the Archdemon lay dead and Ferelden was saved the personal cost to my character was staggering.

My first error was following the romance option with Morrigan - afterall, of the two female romance options she was by far the more interesting character. My hopeless do-goodery meant that she regularly turned down my romantic advances yet in spite of this when she asked me to face down a dragon in order to retrieve a book I conceeded. Eventually, love seemed to blossom and quickly withered and died on the vine. For reasons I couldn't fathom Morrigan seemed so opposed to the very idea of love that when she experienced it herself she saw it is a terrible burden. In spite of this the relationship persisted to the bitter end.

In the days preceeding the final battle to save Ferelden, Loghain was defeated and executed and Alistair was reluctantly given the throne. On the eve of of the battle, the only other Grey Warden in the land revealed the final truth of what it meant to be a Warden, namely that striking down the Demon would only came at the cost of the Warden's life. It was at this moment that Morrigan finally revealed her true agenda and offered a way out of the problem: by conceiving a child the demon would be destroyed and no Warden would die.

In spite of all the evil that I was forced to perpetrate in an attempt to save the world, the very idea of Morrigan's plan was repulsive and I refused. Morrigan left the party forever in a rage.

When the final battle commenced, I had resolved to deliver the killing blow myself - afterall I had heard at length that Ferelden desperately needed Alistair to rule, for it was only the tradition of the Bloodline that held the lands together in the times of deepest crisis. Unfortunately, in the closing seconds of the battle, my character was buffeted back by the demon and knocked to the ground and quickly surrounded by Darkspawn troops. Alistair, thanks to a careful selection of attributes, remained on his feet and renewed his assault and delivered the killing blow himself.

In the end, the King and perhaps only true friend my character had in the course of the adventure lay dead. The love of my character's life was nowhere to be found. The land was saved and the Wardens stood redeemed in the eyes of the people yet Orizammar continued to diminish, the Elves were still marginalized and tensions continued to run high and the bulk of the Circle lay dead.

I suspect, from a story standpoint, this is why I actually loved the game. It is entirely possible to have a perfectly happy ending but the game never forced such a contrivance upon me. Thanks to the fact that I resolved to play the game honestly and not revert to a previous save if I didn't like the outcome of my decision, I was given a narrative that actually had a degree of emotional impact, especially in the latter hours.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but my younger brother has.

He(Elf-Mage, Arcane Warrior) had the baby with Morrigan, Alistair as King of Fereldan, Harrowmont as King of Orzammar, and only got Oghren, Morrigan, Zeran, Alistair, Shale, and Dog.

He focused on Primal Magic(elemental spells) and was a force to be reckoned with. He killed Flemeth and the High Dragon by himself with the rest of his party unconscious.

yea you're right, I forgot about the Warden set as well. But does anyone disagree that having 3 different sets of armor that are decent in a 50 hour game is a little pathetic? I'm currently level 12 or 13 on my 2nd character and I still haven't seen a single usable ring for a Rogue. I mean... seriously BioWare? I love you, but get it together.
