It is one of the only games, that left me speechless, alongside LIMBO and Silent Hill. Although it is not supposed to be a horror game, it left me with the same emotions as the mentioned above. But still, i didn't quite get what the story was actually about. Presumably, it is sort of like the Bad+ ending in Silent hill,
Harry Mason was actually dead, it was his afterlife, sort of
or was it sort of like Fight Club, only this time around, Emir had 7 other personalities... Either way, if you have completed it, what's your take on the plot?

Also, I know that this has been said like a million times, but we need more of such experimental games. Who's with me?

Since my completion a few months ago, I've visited several (very long) story analysis and whatnot, and the plot is indeed...deep.

Basically, Emir is literally just a guy. Then, at some point, he gets spiritually resurrected/awakened by Kun Lan after an incident where he kills some people at Coburn Elementary. Long before the incident at the Union Hotel, he is just a normal guy, then he kills some folks, then he is awakened by the Devil (symbolically).

The Smith Syndicate are 7 separate people. The six (Dan, Con, Coyote, Kaede, Kevin and Mask) are normal people killed in battle, resurrected by Harman, and then recruited to fight for Harman. Harman and Kun Lan both have resurrecting capabilities.

AND THEEEEEN Emir (for some reason) kills the entire Smith Syndicate at the Union Hotel! He goes to the roof where Harman then proceeds to assimilate the dead Smiths INTO Emir, and once again, Emir is spiritually resurrected as Garcian Smith with supposedly no memory of his previous life. Thus, the Killer7 is born.

How IN GOD Garcian seems to experience these events like some sort of flashback at the end of the game is anybody's guess, but when he looks down at the weapons in his briefcase, it calls into question whether the Smith Syndicate ever really existed, or whether it was a figment of Garcian's mind? Hmm, but how could that be? Fuck if I know...fuck if ANYONE knows...

Anyway, what a great game, huh?! Definitely one of my favourites, and I had to play the shitty PS2 version. Regardless, the ending was indeed really sad and moving even though I knew nothing about anything, and for any form of media to achieve that, it is truly something.

And I would call it more of an 'art game' although experimental fits nicely too. Yes. More.

Wow, I didn't realise the PS2 version was inferior, I noticed some framedrops and especially the annoying map ambience, that, if map was opened, would play in a loop until game was reset.
and wow, I also looked some plot analyses up, but I never heard of such explanation :O

Oh, I put it in the most vague terms, there's a lot more too it, but well and truly, the story is insane but brilliant.

You can easily look up 'Hand in Killer7' on the internet, which is an English translation of a Japanese killer7 plot and character guide. It's quite long, though, but if you want to know more then it's worth having a look at. Especially for the political plot elements.

And the PS2 version is a disgrace, I mean, it's playable, and the game itself is a masterpiece, but it doesn't do the Gamecube version justice. The frame rate drops, the very long loading times between areas, the graphics are also worse, and I don't know about the map thing, I never used the map :p

Yeah... it's a good game, isn't it? I'm afraid i can't exactly explain the story either but it's pretty interesting: A theme Suda 51 likes to follow are the cultural and political differences between the western and the eastern word or, more precisely, his homecountry of Japan and the United States of America. Maybe you should play No More Heroes at some point... it's much more humorous than Killer 7 but it explores some of the same themes, even though in a different way.

That ending was truly a mindfuck of everything that happened in the game.

Anyways, the GameCube version is indeed the best. Even though the PS2 has more memory and can store the game on one disc, the GameCube had the superior processor, meaning the game could run smoother.
