Just got FF13 and I have Several Questions after two hours of play

What's a Cocoon?
What's a faicie?
What's an icie?
Who's the blond douche in the trenchcoat?
Who's the black guy?
Who are the people in hoods?
What's the Purge?
Why did the Giant thing turn a lake into crystal?
What do the fourteen year old's have to do with anything?
What the fucking hell is going on?

Can someone please explain this game to me? Two hours in and I no idea what's going on.

yeah just keep playing. and no offense if you are up that point by now you should be able to figure out a few of those at least. if not then the story will tell itself in time

The whole thing doesn't unravel until the later stages of the game, its slow pickings at the start but after a while you start to get whats happening.
Just requires a bit of patience, pretty decent game overall though.

Umm...they give you the Final Fantasy equivilant of a codex you know. And it has everything you're asking in it. Seriously, look it up!

1) Cocoon is the world you'll be playing for chapters 1-11

2)Fal'cie are powerful beings that regulate life for humans on cocoon.

3) L'cie are humans who have been branded by Fal'cie to complete a certain task (The Focus)

4)Snow,

5)Sazh

6)The people of bodhum who were being purged because of their proximity to a Pulse Fal'Cie (Pulse is the enemy of Cocoon)

7) A goverment movement to move all beings in Bodhum to Pulse so they will not be a danger to Cocoon.

8) It crashed and was destroyed, releasing a massive power that turned the lake into a crystal.

9)Hope was in the wrong place, at the wrong time and saw his mother get killed under Snow's command. He wants revenge on Snow and Vanille (The girl with the staff) wants to help him. You'll learn more about Vanille later on.
