"The definitive edition for Mass Effect 3 fans".
No, they're not talking about the previously discussed Collectors Edition, they're talking about the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Looking at the contents, the loadout is almost exactly the same as the physical CE, apart from this little doozy somewhat hidden at the bottom of the page under "Also Includes" -
"Additional downloadable mission and character"
....
Now don't get me wrong, I don't want this to turn into a "To Day One DLC or not to Day One DLC" debate, as that's been done to death recently. What I do find interesting is that there is no mention of the additional mission and character in the physical CE edition (or anywhere else for that matter), and the placement of this startling piece of news in the email suggests that EA were trying to gloss over the inclusion, but at the moment the additional mission and character would be the only reason i'd get the DDE over the CE.
Not to mention the top of the email states -
"Digital Deluxe Editions are in limited supply - have you pre-ordered yours?"
All in all, this email confused the hell out of me. I'm not huge into CE of games, I got the Deus Ex one because i'm a long time fan of the series, and I got the ME2 DDE because of the pre-order bonuses, but aside from those (and The Witcher EE and Witcher 2 SE) I don't generally see the point in putting out the extra cash.
But surely a CE of a game should be the version that is the most limited and with the most bonuses, including in-game content? Especially when that in-game content is an extra mission and character in an RPG game known for it's cool characters and story.
I'm assuming that this is just to get people to subscribe to Origin and make purchases from there, but either way I think it's a pretty low act from EA (surprise surprise).
What I can't understand though is if the major selling point of the DDE is the extra mission and character, why have it almost listed as an addendum to the advertisement?
Whatever the case, i'm annoyed. I was all set to grab the CE for ME3, but until I get some clarification from EA, I can't do so if I think i'm going to be missing out on content.
/end rant.
