Justin deserves any shit he gets. I lost all respect for him when he sort of implied that everyone who gets raped deserves it.
*Clarifying*
You probably have heard his stances on abortion. He thinks it's sinful and terrible. An interviewer asks him "What about rape?"

He says "Well I'm real sorry for you, but everything happens for a reason"

WOW.
Uh...
Given that he's heavily, heavily Christian, and there have been cases in Christianity where rape was used as punishment for sins, the feeling I got from that is that justin thinks god decided for you to get raped, because well, fuck you.

What an asshole. And that's also ignoring just the way he trivialises rape in that interview. Fuck him.
Note, I'm not one of those people who hates all boybands/tweenage dream people. I have nothing against one direction for instance, I just think their music's shit. I don't think they deserve any hate.
Justin on the other hand....
Eugh.

But 9 million for ear damage? Seems a bit excessive.

What kind of idiot goes to a Justin Bieber concert without earplugs?
What kind of idiot goes to a Justin Bieber concert?
Justin Bieber is an idiot.
Fixed that for you. :)
Fixed it even better.
Maximum fixage achieved. [footnote]In all seriousness, I don't actually have a problem with the guy, but bandwagons are fun.[/footnote]

Anyway, the topic: 9 million dollars for a whooshing sound? Yeah, that's insane. I mean, it's crazy that a Bieber concert can generate the kind of sound, but it's not really his fault.

Also, that heart-gondola was the silliest thing I have ever seen.

This is like that American lady who sued McDonalds because she split her warm coffee on herself and it burnt her because you know coffee is warm, well no shit Sherlock who would have thought it, coffee that is hot? I know we have to stick to the letter of the law and stuff but where did common sense go? Sad thing is she'll probably get a decent size of money out of this which is a shame even if it is Bieber, yeah my hate of whiny bitches trying to get something for nothing is greater than my hate for Beiber, never would have thought it.
Actually that case was won for an entirely different reason. McDonalds had been making coffee so it would be too hot to drink right away to make sure people wouldn't get a refill right before they were leaving. Since this is not illegal the judges jumped on this opportunity to give them some punishment for a sleazy business tactic.

OT: It's a concert... I thought everyone knew about the dangers of loud sounds and how you have to take actions yourself in order to protect yourself from loss of hearing when you decide to go to one. I don't see this lawsuit going anywhere.

Add in the volume coming from the music itself and you're probably getting a constant 70-90db and spikes of 120-150db which, if you have sensitive ears and aren't wearing plugs, can hurt your eardrums potentially beyond repair.
For comparison, 150 dB is louder than a jet engine at 100 feet. That may seem like a fair distance, until you actually are that close when it starts up.
you know 180 db is 10 times as loud as 150 db right?
It's also freakishly close to a shotgun blast, except longer and higher pitched. It's only ~30 dB from killing your hearing instantly, and 44 dB from being the loudest sound you can possibly hear.

That means that a screaming stadium full of women is about to a power saw what the loudest sound possible is to the screaming stadium full of women.

Question: What idiot goes to a concert without ear plugs and expects to walk out without a ring in their ears?

Also the tinnitus, or just the ring in your ears in plain English, goes away after a few days, a week at most and it's almost quiet again. Nothing to claim damages about. And that's from my experience of a pretty heavy blow to the head right on my ear that instantly made everything sound like it was underwater. Music should be less bad.
Tinnitus may very well be permanent.
I personally know a drummer with permanent tinnitus.

OT: If the tinnitus is permanent, I hope she gets some money, but 90 million is an unnecessary amount.

Actually, depending on how loud the sound and where she was in the crowd she could get permanent hearing damage, so if her hearing was damaged because of that thing then she might have a case.
She has permanent hearing damage. The ring in your ears is caused by tiny parts of your hearing dying.

And she still doesn't have a case, because everybody with at least half a brain knows that sounds at concerts can be loud enough to do that to you. The woman knew that or should've known that, neglected to take any precautions, and now seeks to blame someone else for her own mistakes.

That's not how it works.

Although, it is the US. Whether or not she has a case totally remains to be seen. Sometimes the more ridiculous a case is, the more chance it has in the US.
Never said she has a case, just might and will probably get something out of it since for some reason that's how it works here.

I seriously doubt she will win though since she should've known better, but hey, some people are just special little ducklings.

An Oregon woman is suing Justin Bieber after claiming permamnent ear damage from attending one of his shows. She says she got hit by a "sound blast" caused by his giant heart shaped gondola, which was pulled into the crowd and also from the thousands of screaming fangirls. Justin was visably seen encouraging the shreiks, waving his arms up in a quick continuous motion.

Suing for just over nine-million dollars she says she now suffers from tinnitus, a condition which causes a constant pulsing, whooshing sound that makes it hard for her to sleep. There are other damages which she claims were caused from the noisy concert

http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/12/justin-bieber-lawsuit-hearing-noise-concert-oregon/

This is the gondola moment in question. It's hard to capture noise from a phone but you can only imagine how loud it was in person
She doesn't have a case against him.
If anything, the organizers of the concert are responsible for anything regarding the sound.
It's not like Bieber is setting up those speakers himself. He just comes in for 20 minutes, does a sound check and if they say it's good, he gets the fuck out and comes back for the show.
It's like suing Scarlet Johannshon because you've injured your dick while masturbating to her pictures.
It's just stupid. Does this shit fly in the US?

Stella Liebeck tried to settle for $20,000 (past medical expenses were $10,500, anticipated future medical expenses were approximately $2,500 and then loss of income was approximately $5,000 for a total of approximately $18,000) but McDonald's acted like dicks and only offered her $800.
